It’s The Fourth! Yeah!! Oops! The Fourth Of March!

My New Year’s resolution is to help all my friends gain ten pounds so I look skinnier.

Guess I am getting old! I am raising orchids by my office desk and I am enjoying them!

Sometimes they look like they are staring at me!

We got some GREAT news this morning via the telly. All the way from the UK, Brian and Jan said they are returning home on the 14th…just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! We really miss them when they are gone!

The bad news is I am up to 214 pounds…Just bad eating habits plus not walking because of all the rain so tomorrow it starts, rain or shine! So, you know what that means!

Sue and I finished the puzzle this morning! The six orange-ish cars were really difficult! The blue-green card and trucks did not help either!

We had fun doing this… Teamwork is wonderful!

I worked in the parkway again today putting fruit tree fertilizer on the plum tree as I expect to see blossoms within a few days…we want those suckers to get a good meal early this year!

Before lunch I ran up to H&H Nursery and got fruit tree food so I could do the rest of the trees before it begins to rain again tomorrow. The best time to fertilize fruit trees is during the growing season, starting in early spring (around bud-break) and finishing by July.

Canadian bacon and eggs with mushrooms this morning… the calories are not too bad and the flavor is outstanding. I even threw in a hand full of sliced mushrooms to the brew…it was lovely!!

Did You Know? “Canadian bacon” in an American invention. It’s based on something called “peameal bacon” which is actually the loin of the pig that has been seasoned, cured and then rolled in cornmeal. It was originally peameal but they changed it and the name just stuck.

In America, the meat is salted and cured, sometimes smoked. You can eat it straight from the package or cook with it. In Canada, Canadian bacon can refer to the above round circles of ham-like meat we know from Eggs Benedict. Although they would normally call it back bacon, not Canadian bacon

Its flavor is described as more ham-like than other types because of its lean cut. The term “Canadian bacon” is not actually used in Canada, where the product is generally known simply as “back bacon” while “bacon” alone refers to the same streaky pork belly bacon as in the United States.

Sue read and I worked in the office still arranging the files the way I want them. I finally have got all our various dividend checks into direct deposit and cashed out some “dogs and cats” investments…just to simplify our lives! I was tired os scanning ten ehecks a month from the old investments. The older I get, the more simple I want life to be!

We got cleaned up and headed for Melanies at 5:00 PM to meet with Irene and solved the problems of the world! Before we departed, we “videoed” to Colleen and got the latest weather report…high of 38 today in New Hampshire! B-r-r-r-r-r-r We were in a hurry to get ot the car so I forgot the “wine”…we had to drink real wine at Melanies.

I ended up eating a corned beed sandwich loaded with sauerkraut and cheese so it is no wonder I tipped the scales at 214! Gotta stop that!

The sunset was warm and occurred at 5:53

Returning, we watched some TV and make our tookies! We hit the sack around 10:15 PM…that seems to work. I was stiff but I think working in the garden after a couple of months off was the problem.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
