While sitting in the office, we heard the leaves in the trees rattle! Then I remembered that Carlos, our intrepid landscaper, had offered to trim the trees. It was 9:00 am when we heard the first leaves fall to the ground.
Three hours later, the trees were reduced to a pile of limbs—talk about getting a severe “haircut”! They’ll be ready to audition for a tree version of “America’s Next Nude Model” at this rate! We do this once a year, and the trees come back with a vengeance.
On the bright side, Carlos made Christmas money, and I stayed off the ladder and out of the trees.
Seeing Carlos in the trees with a machete and chainsaw reminded me of my younger days when I would be doing that. At 80 years of age and a wife who would likely shoot me out of the tree (if she caught me), I was happy to exchange money for service!
Mary and I worked in the gardens and cleaned the patio, including brushing away cobwebs underneath the eves. I made the mistake of waking up “Old Sleepy,” and he told me what he thought! That little sucker has been sharpening his toofies on a file I believe!
It began to mist, so we trimmed the flowers under the patio. I turned on our outside TV (for the second time in four years), and we sat with a glass of wine and a warm blanket and watched a movie. When it began to get dark, we went inside and made dinner.
We are attempting to clean out the freezers, so we decided to fix a ” Bubba Burger,” which I would smother with sauteed onions and mushrooms.
The Bubba Burgers were ready to be topped with my mushroom/onion concoction.
While I was sweating over the hot stove, Mary was busy microwaving the last of our “zoodles.” The zoodle machine is magical. We take zucchini, and with the turn of a crank, we get spaghetti without the carbs!
We are watching a crime series called Cross. From Paramount Television Studios and Skydance Television, Cross is a complex, twisted, pulse-pounding thriller created by showrunner and executive producer Ben Watkins. It is based on James Patterson’s best-selling Alex Cross book series characters.
Cross follows Alex Cross (Hodge), a detective and forensic psychologist uniquely capable of digging into the psyches of killers and their victims to identify—and ultimately capture—the murderers.
They could use a little less profanity, but all in all, it was enticing.
It was cool outside, so we hit the sack and watched another episode. Our plans did not work, and we fell asleep in just a few minutes.
