No Rain Today!

We were supposed to go to a dance class in Pasadena, but with the allergies going on and the fact I am scheduled for an angiogram/angioplasty at 7:00 am Tuesday, we decided to stay home and rest.

Robin popped by at 11:00 am to finish off some planning activities for the surprise birthday party, but we called her ahead of time and said, “Do not have breakfast; we will take you to Benji’s!”.

Upon Robin’s arrival, we took off like a shot, zooming down the 55, flashing (our lights), and honking the horn!  We arrived just before the pangs of hunger did us in!

We raced into the bar area (less crowded) and ordered food, followed by a drink!

When I bit into that smallish sandwich, the first sound was a resounding “CHOMP!” I could only finish one half; the remainder came home in a sealed container, which will be lunch tomorrow!

Food! Food!

Our compatriot in crime was ladylike and made sure the camera was NOT pointed in her direction when she attempted to down the sandwich.  She only made minor nibbling sounds as she worked around the edges of this ample, amplitudinous,  astronomical,  awesome, beneficent, boundless, bounteous, bountiful, capacious,  chunky, colossal, corpulent, cosmic, enormous, excessive, exorbitant, extensive, extravagant, extreme pastrami sandwich!

Nibble… nibble… nibble… nibble.

We finished the sandwiches with only slight distress. NOTE: Mary took the pictures, as I had forgotten my iPhone, so there were no pictures of her downing her soup and French fries.

We ordered a meatloaf sandwich for Jeff, partly because we knew he was tired of cooking for himself and partly because we wanted to see if he could handle a sandwich that was the culinary equivalent of a hug. After all, nothing says “I care about you” quite like a slab of meat stuffed between two pieces of bread. It was like sending him a delicious “We care about you” message!

Returning home, Mary and Robin went to the office and worked on their secret project while I took a nap in the kitchen. Robin left around 4:00 p.m. after we talked to Colleen on the Bat Phone (Alexa). We put Robin into our picture exchange frames, so we can now share!

For obvious reasons, we did not make dinner. We then went to the TV room, where Mary did needlepoint and watched the remaining episodes of Alex Cross. We stayed up until 11:00 p.m., as we wanted to finish the series!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
