Need A Strawberry Finder??

Fact: Associated British Foods did a study that found the average American consumes 7,000 calories on Christmas Day, over three times the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s recommended daily intake.  Most of the damage comes from two large meals and nibbling throughout the day.

Sleeping Beauty stayed asleep until 8:30 AM this morning, allowing me to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate.  I must admit that the chocolate was too sweet, so I only finished half of it.

After Sleeping Beauty got up, we had our morning coffee and strolled the garden pulling some of the straw that had leftover seeds they were attempting to grow.  The straw will decompose like any other organic material but will decompose much slower.  As straw rots, it releases nutrients, feeding the growing plants.  Straw makes your garden better.

We admired our new lawn, looking pretty good after Carlos seeded it, and all the rain we got (almost two inches!)

Hey, I am looking pretty good, thanks to the rain!

I heard a strange buzzing sound coming from Mary’s direction; it was her “automatic strawberry locator” somehow inside her head.  Her eyes were locked on a strawberry located ten feet away; it was amazing to watch.  The next sound was a snap when her tongue aimed for the poor defenseless strawberry, and then came the loud GULP, and like magic, the strawberry disappeared.  She has been studying frogs too much, I think!

About to meet your grower!

It’s time to get serious; we cleaned up and headed for the Elks for “Girls’ Night Out.” Sydney joined us this fine day, and we caught up with her and the folks!

We had a large group today, and Bob Z announced he got our early Christmas present.  It was a gift to assist with his temporary medical issue.

“Thanks, Paul & Mary; I needed that!”

Most everyone had departed, and we stayed around and babbled another thirty minutes!

I asked, “What do you call a kid who doesn’t believe in Santa?” I had to tell them, “A rebel without a Claus.”

Hi everyone!

We headed the Silver Fox toward Jan’s house, bringing a fresh salmon meal directly to her!  Before we gave it to her, she had to answer the following question: “If Santa and Mrs. Claus had a baby, what would he be?” Jan knew the answer without hesitation and blurted out, “A subordinate, Claus.” Jan is so clever!!

We made a quick stop and brought salmon from the Elks.

By the time we got home, it was getting dark, so I could not put up the new lights, and besides, if I tried, our son Joe would have a conniption-fit.  Tomorrow morning we will finish off the lights!  I hope I can do it because, at 78, I am getting a little shaky on the twelve-foot ladder.

I got sent to bed early just because I asked Mary, “How does Christmas Day end?” Geeze, I thought it was funny but apparently, no!  I answered the question myself, “With the letter Y!”

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
