Thursday; The Week Is Getting Weaker!

Fact: Roller coasters were invented to distract Americans from sin! – In the 1880s, hosiery businessman LaMarcus Thompson hated that Americans were tempted by hedonistic places like saloons and brothels. So he set out to straighten up one of the most immoral places he could think of: Coney Island in New York. There, he built America’s first roller coaster to give New Yorkers some good, clean fun—away from seedier pastimes.

We are busy today and Scout informed us that he has an appointment at the groomer!

We are making plans to go north for a wedding.  This will be our first road trip while married and it ought to be fun.

Neice Lisa and Patrick are tieing the knot!

We had our coffee, went through the mail, and then went to the office to go through the e-mail and pay bills, ugh!  We got a text from the glass company and they are coming Saturday to put in the closet mirrored doors.  I have a plan to cut the doors in half vertically and use them in the attic to walk on since the attic is so large. More storage and less pain on the feet!

We will have ten large sliding doors and that will easily make twenty 80″-long planks!

We departed the house at about 11:00 AM as Scout, The Wonder Dog, had a groomer appointment.  We will get him on our return home and he will be magnificent looking (and he will know ow it!)  We asked Scout how he wanted his hair done and he best described it like:

We are bad parents; we said “No Way!!!”

It’s Thursday and that means Girl Night Out at the Elks.  We made it to Santa Ana by 11:30 AM.  Some people call it Thursday, I like to call it Friday Eve.  We had a large group today so the level of fun was increased.

Mike was in rare form today!

Leon and Marsha joined us today as we have been talking up “Girls Night Out”.  Linda wore her hat as did Mary but alas, I failed to capture Mary in her hat.

The Branders joined us today.

Returning home, Scout was not ready yet.  That was worrisome so we decided to stop at Aces and enjoy a glass of wine and dance a few dances.  We have control of their Internet Jukebox.  The company is called TouchTunes.  They install their digital jukebox free of charge and they shared the revenues with the restaurant/bar.

MAry has an App on her phone where we can select the music we want.  The patrons love our music and we get to dance!  We did a swing, a chacha, and a waltz today!

Good selection of real music!

Scout was ready when we went back by the groomer.  Home was only two miles away. We had to be home at 3:00 PM because Juan was coming by to wah the fleet.  I also had a few moving chores for him.

While the fleet was being washed and I was moving things around on the garage, Mary fired by the kitchen and made Borscht.  Borscht is a sour soup common in Eastern Europe and Northern Asia. In English, the word “borscht” is most often associated with the soup’s variant of Ukrainian origin, made with red beetroots as one of the main ingredients, which give the dish its distinctive red color.

Mary whipped up Borscht this evening

I was the official chopper and dicer!  Things are easier in the kitchen with two because Mary does not have to stop and chop.  She requests; I do; we eat!

I sliced and diced.

In a couple of months, we will be able to go out into the garden and pick our own!  The mason is coming over Saturday morning to make the estimate for the large garden.

All the cut-up goodies looked great in the soup.

With the precision of a surgeon (oops, she is a surgeon) the ingredients go into the pan and then into the pot and in an hour we will dine like royalty.  While cooking, I got ketchup in my eye, but I didn’t wash it because Heinzsight is 20/20!

I did mention to Mary that if Cinderella was given the task of cooking and not cleaning, then she would have been named Mozzarella!

Into the pan it goes!

The results were magnificent.  The soup has zero calories but it has 1,000,000,000 flavors.

Life is good!

MAry planned dessert; she found a large box of itty-bitty chocolate bottle containing booze!  Two of those and I was ready to crash!

We had a small dessert this evening.

We talked to Colleen and Robin while having dinner getting our daily gossip quotas.

We did our nightly coordination with Robin.

We crashed and didn’t even turn on the TV, our readers were busy.  TOmorrow is an early day as we have appointments to get pretty like Scout at 9:00 AM.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
