Twoday was 2/2/22!

Fact: The blob of toothpaste that sits on your toothbrush has a name. – It is called a ” .” Colgate-Palmolive Co and GlaxoSmithKline, two of the world’s biggest toothpaste makers, said they had reached a confidential settlement of litigation over who has the right to depict a “nurdle,” a wave-shaped toothpaste blob that sits atop a toothbrush head.  A settlement notice was filed on Monday with the U.S. District Court in Manhattan, where the companies had sued each other in July 2010.

Now you k ow; go out and impress someone!

We got an alert about HIGH WINDS for today and tomorrow; so far, they were right!  The chimes have been making noise for hours now.  Every time I hear the wind, I think of Bob Dole, who said, “The wind doesn’t bother me.  I’m in the U.S. Senate.”

According to them, the cleaning folks were here after a two-week hiatus because they had the COVID-19 junk; it was just the flu.  We had them do the office first so we could hide out there while they did the rest of the house.  We got some work done, including ordering a mess of photos at the local CVS to populate several available picture frames.

Mary fixed brunch after they departed, and she decided to watch an old movie.  I rolled out the T.V. into the kitchen and turned on TCM, selecting a Cary Grany movie from the late 1940s.  The plot in a nutshell: A willful woman concocts an elaborate scheme to trap a handsome pediatrician into marriage.

I mentioned to Mary, “Before I tell you something important, I take your hands in mine.  That way, you can’t hit me with them.”

Loads of laughs!

Brunch is underway.  I was going to take a picture of the final product, but it was so good I ate it before the camera came out of my pocket.  I know eggs were involved, and Mary can be a real practical yolk-er at times.

Time for breakfast!

The T.V. is just the right size for cooking and dining on the island.  When we are done, it goes back to its room!  Move over, Vanna White; you have done been replaced!

We watched “Every Man Ought To B.E. MArried” with Cary Grant, circa 1949

The old movies are fantastic.  A group of violinists plays “Beyond The Sea” as they move about the dining room.  The song was first recorded in France in 1946 and was called “La Mer”; The Sea.  The violins sounded terrific.

The movie was funny!

While watching the old movie, I remembered an old advertisement from the 1950s.  Do you remember this one?  The caption was just too funny.  Email me if you know the caption!

Do you remember the caption?

The baby goes in and out while we are cooking and eating; he can’t seem to make up his mind.  I thought I heard him say, “Daddy, I’m so hungry I could eat a horse and chase the rider.”

Something smells good, Daddy, whatcha making?

We got cleaned up and made ready to go about 1:00 PM for our P.T. session.  It really helped my leg, and I now know the exercises I need to do every morning to keep the nerve in shape.

We returned home for a fly-by to water the baby before we departed again.  We took him out in the backyard to make sure he watered the grass.

On the road again, this time VFR to the Santa Ana Elks Lodge #794.  Nick is getting his investigation this evening, and we wanted to be there.  He will get initiated next month when Aunt Colleen is out here getting initiated.

Paul and Grandson Nick; Nick just finished the “Investigation.”

Tonight they had beef ribs, and they were terrific.  We got three bones each, and I took two of mine home.  Mary also decided to take two home, so we have lunch ready to go for the next couple of days, apply the microwave, and dine in style.

Those bones were terrific.  I only ate one and was full to the brim!

Bill is the Treasurer of the lodge, and we get all the “skinny” on what’s happening from him.

Dr. Capps fills us in on things!

Nick and Mom, the powerful duo!  Watching the child go from a baby to a grown man; makes me feel “old.”  Now he and his father will be Elks.

Nick and her very proud Mom!

The ladies chattered the entire time, which made me very happy.  Mary and Robin are good friends, and that is a remarkable thing.  A few weeks ago, Mary and Robin played “Hide And Seek” for hours!  Well, good friends are hard to find.

Watch out for these two.

It’s an inside joke!

We enjoy family and being with each other.  Can you tell?  You and I make an incredible “WE.”

Love is in the air.

We departed in time to go by Bob and Donna’s and join the Starlighters Board Meeting.  It was a good session, although the couch was so comfortable I fell asleep; probably better for the meeting!  Meetings are held to discuss many problems which would never arise if we had fewer meetings.

We headed home around 9:00 PM and read for a while.  We both have good books going, which are hard to put down.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
