Up And Raring To Go!

Morning is wonderful. Its only drawback is that it comes at such an inconvenient time of day.

Mary drove over to visit my house as there were some last-minute things to do.  We decided to go to Old Ranch for breakfast, and we both had a great Ninth Hole Omelet. Brunch without champagne is just a sad breakfast.  We had a bottle of Cakebread, delicious. Wine improves with age. The older I get, the better I like it.

I did ask Mary, “What wine goes with Captain Crunch?”  I did not get an answer.

We then headed to my place, only 2.5 miles away, for a little spruce up.  Mary watered everything while I painted the block wall surrounding the pool equipment.

Some comparisons are revealing.  We really hope the sale goes through!  Joe is coming over on Monday to review the geologist’s findings, and he will be able o see the property upfront and personal.

The Entrance Way

Trees surrounded the entranceway in the old house.

The new entrance faces the street with fifteen steps to the top.

The Kitchen

The kitchen is important to us as we both like to cook and entertain.

The kitchen was huge, but we cooked there almost every day.

The new kitchen is also large and has a breakfast area plus access to the outdoor dining area.

Plenty of storage, and it has a walk-in pantry!

The Living Room/Family Room

The living room and den are combined in the old house while they are distinctly isolated in the new house.

The old house had a step-up into the living area.

The new family room is adjacent to the kitchen, has a bar, and direct access to the pool/spa.

Drink anyone? Complete with two wine refrigerators.

Separate formal living room.

The Master Bedroom

The master bedroom suite is significantly larger in the new house.  We remodeled the old house to make the bathroom larger and put in a sixteen-foot-long walk-in closet.

The old house had a great master bed/bathroom and access to the front walkway.

A little more room and a view of the city!

The master bath is larger than my old bedroom!

The Office

Because of m interest in computers, I spend a lot of time in the office and keep my cookbooks handy.

The office was nice and had a view.

I think the office will be fine! Room for both of us!

The Pool/Patio

While the pool was used quite a bit, the old house did not have any privacy nor view.

The pool was just right for the yard.

Room for entertaining in the new place.

Room to entertain and privacy!

The Garage

We could have five cars, three inside and two outside… perhaps even an RV?

We had a two-car garage which was really on because of my small shop.

The new place has an oversize three-car garage with a 30-foot long workbench.

I have wanted a real shop for over 60 years… Now I will have one!

We finished painting and watering about 3:00 PM and headed to Mary’s for a well-deserved soak in the swim spa.

We watched a movie and made artichokes in the Instapot. By 11:00 PM, we were crashed.  Tomorrow is a day of rest except for dancing Sunday evening.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
