It’s Been Two Years Since We Moved In!

Two years ago today, we established Casa Valencia in Orange, California.

It was a happy day for us!   We have been working together for two years but are still not done.  We thought we would be settled in within six months; we underestimated the task.   You can see some of the work we have done right here on our website.

Last night it rained hard; at midnight, it woke us up as the rain was pounding the patio so hard.   We leave our bedroom windows open as we both like a cold room to sleep in!

On our morning amble through the garden, the rain gauge indicated 0.5 inches.  The garden will appreciate it.  We have new artichokes coming up, and in about 60 days, they will be ready to eat.

These will be beauties in a few weeks.

We finished off the last of the plantings.  We put in six pumpkins; in 120 days, we ought to be carving jack-o-lanterns.

These “little” plants will spread out like crazy over the next several months and can reach 20 feet long!

Our window washer was here today, and we snapped this picture as he cleaned the second-floor windows.

Do NOT fall!!

Mary headed for the kitchen, so I knew its lunchtime.   She scrambled up some eggs and chili, and a burrito was underway.  In addition, we have Mediterranean cucumber salad, which is so good!

Mary made burritos for lunch!

What do you call it when trying to find out what someone had for lunch?  An ingestigation.

I finally had some time and set up the time-lapse camera to take a shot every two hours for the next two months.  We will see the garden grow!

This should be fun to watch!

On our way to the lawyer’s office, we stopped by Jan’s and dropped off some goodies.  Of course, the girls had a glass of vino, and I settled for a beer,

What happens at Jan’s, stays at Jan’s.

We finalized some legal papers with Bill at his Newport Beach office.   The Trust and Will plus medical directives are completed; we are ready to travel!

We were hungry, so I suggested we stop at Royal Khyber in Costa Mesa, and we had a delightful dinner.  I even had a half-glass of wine to cool down the burning sensation.  We shared entrees and some appetizers.  The dinner was quiet, romantic, and delicious.

The General Manager took care of us and has been serving me for over 35 years!

We had a special table off to the side with a patio view.

So quiet and romantic!  We talked to the owner for a while before leaving for dancing.

They say a batch of Indian food would cure what ails you… That was the first case of medically induced Korma.

After dinner, we went to the Tustin Senior Citizens Center and danced with friends for an hour and a half.  We were pooped from all the gardening, so we departed at about 9:30 pm to go home and crash.

We danced up a storm and got invited to dinner with friends on Friday evening!

We were home at 10:00 pm and were both asleep before our heads hit the pillow.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
