Work Work Work!

Fun Fact: If you work 40 hours a week up until 65 years, you will work just over 90,000 hours in your lifetime. Leonardo Da Vinci is credited with writing the first resume. The industrial revolution allowed people to work longer and year-round, and work was no longer dictated by seasons and natural lighting!

I was up at 6:00 AM, kicked out of bed, and sent to Home Depot to get flowers to plant. I went, all by myself, into the dark, dank morning where the temperature was in the 40s. I picked up a mess of flowers to plant and brought them home. I remember once; I was out camping when a monk tried to sell me flowers, but I said no. “I like to do my bit to prevent florist friars.”

We started planting at about 8:30 AM and finished at 1:30 PM!  The first thing that came to my mind was: What do you get if you cross a sheep dog with a daisy? A Collie-flower.

We planted almost 50 separate plants!

The planters will be packed in a few weeks! We counted over 40 bulbs that are sneaking through the mulch, and they will grow to be almost a foot tall!  I mentioned to Mary that  it’s good to talk to your plants. I tried to teach my flowers mathematics but they ended up with square roots.

We have 58 bulbs coming up also.

As the morning progressed, so did the wind! We had a full-scale gale going at 11;00 AM. I did a few odd jobs while Mary planted. I drilled holes in the ground using the super-auger, and then I would add a hose-caddy to the garage wall so the hose would have a home.

A well-earned award!

While Mary continued to work, I met with our stonemason, and we plotted out the backyard garden.   We will have an estimate in about two weeks, and he could start mid-March. It will look something like the one I had in Los Alamitos.

Early in the growing season.

I got a good picture of our Valentine’s Day flag as the hurricane winds made the flags stand right out.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We were done by 1:30 PM and went inside to have lunch. The day was so great that we dined on the patio having a pot roast and a small glass of wine, and dessert was also served.

Our glass people came in about 2:00 PM and installed two of the four doors. Apparently, the manufacturer sent doors with incorrect measurements, so the Exercise Room and Robin’s Nest will not be finished today.

Before!

Then the doors come off, and we see the naked closet!

Oops, my small collection of Hawaiian shirts were exposed!

With the doors on the room looks large!

Mucho better!

They did not finish until almost 6:00 PM, and by the time they were done, it was Swim Spa time. I donned a tight latex glove on my left hand to keep the water from getting on the scar, and we sat in the spa for forty minutes, loosening up from the day in the garden.

We made a few phone calls and then hit the sack. We read for quite a while and then dozed off, awaiting tomorrow to arrive.
