The Weekend Arriveth!

Wrinkled Was Not One of the Things I Wanted to Be When I Grew Up.

How did it happen…it’s Wednesday and then POOF! The calendar says Saturday! Guess we will have to deal with it. We worked on the new puzzle for a while but we plan to get a card table as the dining room table is just not large (or movable) enough.

I went to the garage and vacuumed…love the new toy!

The shop is now always “clean”

But…at 8:00 AM disaster struck…somewhere! The lights went out so I went back inside. My new toy, being battery powered, had no issues art all! The cell phone worked so I dialed into SCE and reported the outage. Internet was down but cell service was having no issues!

Finally the power was restored and we made lunch. We had corn again and it was decided, …with a new found burst of energy me and the Silver Ghost shot from the garage like a rocket! Away we went in a cloud of dust and burning rubber. To H&H Nursery in Long Beach. More corn and some water melons and pumpkins were in the sights!

H&H is located on Lakewood under the high tension power lines. We used to go there to walk when Sue was recovering from back surgery…easily an hour stroll around the grounds

After returning from the secret mission to H&H, Sue decided to read and I hit the front yard planting watermelons and pumpkins for the neighbors grandsons. Vicky and Del get a kick out of watching the grandkids watch the plants grow!

Ready to plant!

Vicky saw me planting and knew what I was up to so her and her boys went shopping and brought me a surprise.

No calories IF you eat the pie with chopsticks

We rested a few minutes and then got ready or the Santa Ana Elks Inaugural Ball…the new lodge is now open for business! Yeah!

To the closet and voila…I did not have to pull out three suits and go to the window toi see what color they were! Love the new closet!

So nice and light!

We got gussied up and headed to the new lodge in Santa Ana…had to help the Silver Ghost and she didn’t know exactly where it was but now it is committed to memory!

We reserved a table and it was absolutely perfect! It was NOT in the main room but in the doorway between the members lounge and the main room so a) we were away form the loud music, b) close to a bar, c) adjacent to the buffet, and d) we had our own dance floor.

Well..Part of the whole gang anyway!

For the first big event, we had over 400+ people, they did very very well. Our dinner was about 45 minutes late but the food was pretty good. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were spot on…just a tad late…but, we had the appetizers to munch on so we did not go hungry.

The music was an issue…while it was not terribly bad the volume made cracks in the ceiling. Perhaps they believe we are all old deaf people…we departed early because I was getting a head ache.

We had excellent view!

We got our own entertainment…Bob was trying to make Sandy disappear!

Bob tired over and over but she never disappeared!

We stayed until dinner was served. We left so fast the wine carrier was left behind but the Zaitz rescued it for us! We do have a backup carrier so life is good!

Marianne came to visit

When we got home we sat and listened to silence for a while before turning on the tookie machine and watching Gilmore Girls and Grey’s Anatomy.

Tomorrow is a big day…Father’s Day…The Duda’s are taking us to P.F.Chang’s and then on a boat tour of the harbor.
