We were up early and getting ready to go to the heart doctor to get a heart stress test to make sure I could get through the upcoming surgery.
The accuracy of chemical stress tests (also known as pharmacological stress tests) is considered comparable to that of exercise stress tests. For these reasons, chemical stress tests are now being used more frequently.
We arrived right on time, and I was led to the slaughter by a friendly technician who put a line into my arm painlessly so the injections could be sent on demand. He did a scan and then sent me to the next office to get the pharmacological stress tests.
Two techs looked at me and said I might have symptoms such as dizziness, upset tummy, hot flashes, and other signs of distress. I assured them I would have no problems. In went the liquid, and for two minutes, I felt some sensation of heat, but absolutely nothing affected me negatively.
They sent Mary and me to Subway and said, “Eat the greasiest/fattest thing you can find.” I did so with ease! We went down, and thirty minutes later, we came back upstairs, and I got another scan. Mary and I brought the techs a foot-long chocolate chip cookie that was being offered at Subway!
We were out of there by 11:00 am and headed home for an hour before going to Tustin and dropping off Mary at her watercolor class!
Mary was not finished with her masterpiece, so you will see it in the next few days after the finishing touches have been added. Remember, a picture is worth a thousand brushstrokes.
While she was painting, I did some chores around the house and prepared ourselves to decorate for Thanksgiving.
I picked her up at 3:00 p.m. and reminded her, “A rolling stone gathers no brushstrokes.”
We stopped by Trader Joe’s for wine and other goodies, including two great-looking filet mignon steaks! Poppy is cooking tonight!
The steaks were marinated in a secret ingredient, and I got my new cooking weapon: the HexClad pan! It is being hyped on the internet and Amazon, so I thought I would try it. It is incredible: It heats up uniformly, cleans up very quickly, and has an excellent handle despite being hot!
The steaks were about six ounces—perfect for a “semi-lite” dinner!
The sear was perfect, although we had to turn on the whole house and stove fans to eliminate the smoke. Cooking for about 3-4 minutes on each side brought the internal temperature to 125 degrees, perfect for a medium-rare steak!
As a two-fisted chef, I simultaneously cooked mushrooms and onions. The mushroom-onion combo topped the steaks—talk about melting in your mouth!
To be safe, I had a glass of Chardonnay available in case of a fire. Thank goodness everything was secure, so I finished the Fire Extinguisher Chardonnay by myself.
The small potatoes were perfect for the steak, and when topped with Irish butter and sour cream, we had a meal fit for royalty! Mary had gone to the garden earlier and prepared a fresh salad, which was perfect.
Is this a beauty or not???
We went to the living room (the TV room), watched LOST until about 9:30 pm, and then crashed. Tomorrow will be busy because we have the gym, an appointment at the Apple Store, and dinner at the club.
I did not stay up to watch the returns, as I knew common sense would prevail—except for the West Coast, Colorado, and a few places in the Northeast!
Nature called around 3:00 am, and I could not resist a quick look at the computer! Finally, we can bring some common sense back into the government, and I hope Elon Musk takes a swipe at the massive government waste and cuts the size of the government, throws out half the silly laws, and ceases sending so much money overseas! While he is at it, get us out of the UN!
