I tried getting up early and dressing like a coconut so Mary could not find me and make me go to the gym! It did not work. She said she spotted two skinny white legs and knew it was me! Foiled again!!
We managed to escape the gym with only minor bodily harm. The splints didn’t even hurt this time. I just have to remember, I’m only there so I can eat more later.
We had a clever idea: we would visit Marie for lunch and get the blank orders for Thanksgiving dinner. Alas, Marie was closed until 11:00 am, and we were hungry. So, what does that mean? Benji’s!
A familiar car was next to ours when we pulled into the parking lot! It was Vicky (and Jim), who were just finishing breakfast. We sat with them for a while before they departed. But I had a sneaky plan in mind when I spotted a police vehicle pull up and park.
When I was walking in, I met a friendly police officer and told him all about Vicky being a CHP officer. I asked him to come to the table and suggest she miss parked her car and he had to give her a $450 ticket! She nearly had a seizure, but before she passed out, the officer, Mary, and I began to laugh! The officer did a masterful performance!! We got her good!!!
While having brunch at Benji’s, I got a message from the Candlelight, and within minutes of getting home, I had already bought ten seats in Row D! I began going to the Christmas plan in 1986. COVID did in the theater, and we had two blank years, but this is the second year that they have found a local venue to put on the performance.
When we got home and finally stopped laughing about Vicky, we decided to put up our Thanksgiving outdoor decorations! Mary laughed and giggled the entire time, but she made doing the work fun! She is my best friend and partner in crime.
After setting everything up, we stood back and admired our efforts. We did well! We await our neighbors’ comments, especially after they see the light show we selected!
We tied the bunting up carefully so it would be easy to remove in three weeks and prepare for Christmas. Tomorrow, we will do the blow-ups!
We headed to the backyard as I still had some plants to lower into their resting places. Even though Mary was still not 100%, she came out to be with me.
Below, she is planting her beloved Sweet Peas, which will produce thousands of multicolored flowers in about 30 days.
The plants were placed into the ground with extreme care!
Robin came over, and we finalized the Surprise Birthday Party list and sent out the invites. She did not stay overnight but headed home.
