Paul Finishes The Winter Garden And We Celebrate Mitch’s Birthday

Time to complete the winter garden with a nice layer of straw mulch!  We have lettuce, onions,Swiss chard, peas, broccoli, cabbage, strawberries, and other delights.  We are still pulling asparagus from this years crop!

The mulch is like magic in terms of keeping the ground moist and not allowing it to dry out

The shelling peas are climbers so Paul put up a net to give them support.  In a few weeks they ought to be climbing high and producing peas for the table!

The peas can climb all they want now and the asparagus in the background are still producing.

We took Mitch out to dinner at the Summit House in Fullerton which is close to Zack’s place.  We dropped by Zack’s place to see the results of the tree trimming activities.  What a difference!

A slab of prime rib for the birthday boy!

That there is a hunk of meat and it was NOT the largest one either…. The next size cut is where they bring in the entire cow!

Looks like the entire cow!

Lamb shank fall off the bone tender over a great risotto!  Simply wonderful!

Paul went for the lamb… Fall off the bone delicious! Look out diet… You done been done in!

Chomp… Lick… Wipe… Chomp… Lick…Wipe…  Paul was like a machine devouring every morsel of that meal!

Paul gnawed the bone it was so good!

Time to sing to “The Ol’ Man”!

…Yes, we sang Happy Birthday out in public!

Leaving the Summit House the moon was up and looked magical so out came the iPhone!

As we departed the Summit House it was a wonderful Fall evening

On our way home to the treadmill and some Star Trek!
