Hump Day; Down Hill From Here!

We were lazy this morning, and we thought a lot about this poor world of ours since the sicko, brain-damaged, inbred, mentally sick radical Muslims began their bloodthirsty rampage.

Today, I discovered that gardening is just a fancy way of saying I played in the dirt for two hours and called it productivity. I even managed to fill a 90-gallon trash can with evidence of my hard work. Who knew making a mess could be so satisfying?

Our idea of placing concrete between the planters works well, especially when we must stop those rebellious plants from growing legs and making a run!  We toss the cutting onto the floor, wait a few hours for the moisture to dissipate, and then load the remains into the trash container!

Cleanup is easy; sweep and collect!

The peppers will soon become little rats when Mary stuffs them with cream cheese and wraps them with turkey bacon. Once they are in the oven and then in our mouths, they are beautiful appetizers. The squash will likely find its way into a salad.

I keep thinking: I fought the lawn, and the lawn won;  weed it and reap, and give a weed an inch, and it’ll take a yard.

I love those squash!

We have had a plethora of bells this season, and several plants are still producing.  As we say, ding-dong!

Did You Know? All bell peppers are from the same plant, but the color depends on how long they are left to ripen before they are harvested. A green bell pepper is picked before it ripens. If left on the plant to ripen, a green pepper becomes a yellow or orange pepper, and when left longer, it eventually becomes a red pepper.

I shall offer to assist Mary, who is stuffing these guys!

Our cleaning staff came over at noon, and Robin and Bob popped by on their way home from Robin’s epidural procedure. They joined us on the patio and had lunch. We loaned them two of our tables for tomorrow’s beach party.  We had a good visit.

In the afternoon, Mary packed a fantastic meal for tomorrow’s picnic at the Muckenthaler Amphitheater in Fullerton.  Ten of us will attend this event; having so many outstanding friends is amazing.

The Alley Cats’ unparalleled Doo Wop show blends America’s most known and loved music with comedy and showmanship that had Muck audiences begging for their return!

Hilarious and talented!

It was recorded last year, and you can see us in the sixth row taking it all in!

For the rest of the afternoon, we watched TV, and then we watched the end of a series we had started a week ago entitled Dark Winds. Set in 1971 on a remote outpost of the Navajo Nation near Monument Valley, Dark Winds follows Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn of the Tribal Police as he is besieged by a series of seemingly unrelated crimes.

They have been renewed for season three, year! It will begin in early 2025.

We got ready to go to the Tustin Senior Citizens Center for an evening of dancing.

The music was terrific, and we had a ball. The “Old Guys” had us all moving and grooving!

Laura, Mary, Mary, and Bill were having a wonderful time.  We danced everything from a Waltz to a Tango and the Texas Two-Step!  We kept moving for two and a half hours.

Our dance friends.

A brochure caught my eye, and  I showed it to Mary!  Finally, I shall get her signed up and back into artwork.  We are attempting to arrange the upstairs into an art studio and a place to dance.

You go, girl!

We departed and stopped by Aces, but three feet inside, we did a 180 and came home.  They had a DJ, and the music was so loud that my teeth rattled!  I cannot understand why people subject themselves to such noise, knowing full well that it destroys their hearing.  I guess Mary and I are more intelligent than the average bear!

Scout and I ventured out into the great outdoors so that he could take care of his pre-sleep rituals. The night air was wonderfully refreshing, a cool 65 degrees; YEAH!! It’s amazing how excited we can get about the little things, like perfect potty weather for our furry friends!

It’s time for bed.

Tomorrow is a full day as we have Girl’s Night Out and then off to the Muck with friends.

Another Busy Day!

The 1950s were the  greatest of times!  Just listen to the music.

Today was Monday and that means a trip to the gym to tune-up our magnificent bodies!  Tune-up may be too strong a term, perhaps, making stuck parts move may be more realistic.  We grunted and groaned for a full hour and we escaped their clutches at 9:00 am and raced home.

One for day of this incessant heat.  It’s so hot cows are giving evaporated milk.  It’s so hot they installed a fan in the debt ceiling.

Today, I spent some time at home and decided to call AppleCare to see if they could help me fix my Time Machine. After speaking with them, I ended up purchasing a new 20 terabyte drive because the amount of data on my iMac is quite substantial!

At 3:00 pm we did some errands including getting some nasal spray for my allergies, placing our order at Taco Mesa for Saturday’s party, and went to Michael’s for some goodies.

Mary made some excellent sauce for our remaining pierogies.

Today was another hot one and at 8:0o pm it was still in the 80s so we jumped into the pool and floated around for about 90 minutes.

Off And Running!

We were up before the local roosters this morning.  We have an appointment to get cut up at 8:10 am in Long Beach.  We got to our destination super early, so we hit up Micky D’s and indulged in an egg McMuffin goodness. It’s never too early for a burger, right?! Then it was off to the doctor, where the doctor waited at the front door with a scalpel in hand.

Here I am to save the day!!

One hour later, I was a half-pound lighter, and I had a new bandage —I think it was a Sponge Bob Square Pants bandage.

Ouch!!

After the operation, we went to see my GP doctor to get the results of my annual physical. He summarized it by saying that although my body is obviously (?) that of an 80-year-old, the laboratory test results indicate I have the body of a 50-year-old, and my mind is that of a 12-year-old. I got an A-OK.  Mary signed the report card immediately.  Mary was very happy with the results, especially the liver test!

We overheard a conversation in the waiting room: “Doctor: Nurse, how is that little girl doing who swallowed ten quarters last night?  Nurse: No change yet.”

My partner in crime was with me the entire time!

We decided to have lunch at Old Ranch, so we contacted Charlotte and met her there at 12:30 pm. She had just finished a round of golf and was delighted to see us. We chatted for a long time. And as usual, Charlotte managed to fit in at least 20 stories about her golf game before we even got our food. It was like a play-by-play commentary of her golfing adventure, complete with dramatic reenactments of her best shots!

Charlotte may be going to Denmark soon as her father is on failing health.  She is an amazing lady!

We made a date for Friday night at the ranch to have dinner on the patio with music and dancing.  Dianne will be joining us along with Charlotte!

We shared for an hour and a half!  We caught up on everyone.

The ranch had some new waiters, so we got to experience some surprises. Let’s just say we received a lot of “unintentional acrobatics” with our meals!.

We taught him a thing or two!

On the way out, Mary stopped to prepare for the drive home, and Charlotte asked for my camera.  She saw something related to me and wanted to get a picture!

Charlotte wanted a picture of me to remember me by!  (Two horses pa-toots)

Upon arriving home, Juan was here waiting for us.  We have all the fleet washed.  Precious and The Grey Ghost just got a wash, and he detailed the Silver Fox; it looked pretty rough.  The upholstery was cleaned, and every inch was made spotless, even the trunk!  He has been doing my fleet for almost six years now; he’s a good guy!

We fixed some goodies to dine on while the “debate” was going on.  We departed for Jeff’s house with a supply of wine and plenty of food.

The debate was pretty sad, with ABC being the big losers. Was it slightly biased and “fact-checking” as they went? Camela was undoubtedly prepared, although her lies were blatant. Unfortunately, the liberals will nod their heads. Trump allowed Camela to get under his skin a couple of times. Based on the sad situation this country is in, I am going with Trump because he is a known quantity.    Camela failed at the border and had a rating of the most “progressive” senator of all, plus they destroyed San Francisco!

We appreciated his assertion that the individuals speaking negatively about him were the ones he had dismissed. There is a clear need for more government employees to be let go due to their incompetence and lack of productivity.

Dianne called and she finally got the “Pink Ladies” jacket we sent three months ago!

Lookin’ good; she is ready for the next 1950s dance!

We didn’t swim this evening, but we crashed early.

David Reidy, RIP 1942-2024

We got a call at 1:33 am from Dianne, and she reported that David had passed peacefully at the hospice care facility.

His family and friends will sorely miss him!

We immediately jumped in the car and headed to Dianne’s house. We picked her up, went to the hospice facility, and stayed with David for an hour before taking Dianne home. David was like a brother to Mary, the brother she never had.

We got up again at 8:00 am and checked the garden to ensure it was OK since we expected it to be 104 degrees that day!

Remi is six today!  Our great-grandson is a pistol!  Happy Birthday Remi!!  He and Mommy are at the ballgame!

Happy Birthday, Little Man!!

At 10:30 am, we headed to Dianne’s to join her at the mortuary.  We took care of business and then went to lunch at  Benji’s NY Deli.  Oh my, it was piled high!

The meal was outstanding!

After returning home and dropping off Dianne, we got gussied up and headed to Campus Jax to see John Tesh!

Yeah, Yeah, the gang’s all here!

We had perfect seats and did a lot of toe-tapping as John played!

A tiny glass of wine helped soothe our nerves.

Tonight, John had a quartette, and they made beautiful sounds!   The show was copied to YouTube, and here it is:

They were amazing!

John even mentioned the Lord and quoted pieces of the bible; so very refreshing!

Vicky got to visit him for a few minutes!

They are now besties!

The show was over at 9:00 pm and we headed to Aces for a nightcap nefore going home and visiting Scout.

Sundried Tomatoes, Really?

Today, we are going south to San Juan Capistrano to visit the Sundried Tomato Bistro and meet with Pete and Lisa Chartier. Pete is our ex-son-in-law and is married to Lisa, a delightful lady!

The trip is pretty straightforward: We go to the 55 freeway and then to the five freeway, and 29 minutes later, we will be there!

The Sundried Tomato Bistro has an eclectic menu that is always changing and pretty darn good on the taste buds. The San Juan Capistrano Mission is just a block away, but today, we will stay inside as the temperature will be warm.

Ninety is OK as long as we are inside!

We will have our iphones on stun should we get a call from Dianne as David is slowly going downhill at hospice.

We rocketed off at 11:00 am on a mission to San Juan Capistrano, about 40 minutes away. We landed first and immediately initiated Operation Drink! We savored a glass of wine while waiting for Pete and Lisa, feeling like intergalactic wine connoisseurs awaiting the arrival of fellow extraterrestrial enthusiasts.

Pete, Lisa, and Paisley showed up a few minutes later!  It was nice to sit and talk to them because we were not together the last several times we got together.  We caught up on everything and shared a few laughs along the way!

Did he say “Ribs”

Paisley has undoubtedly grown up and, after a while, remembered who we were.

Pte & Lisa’s granddaughter, Paisley.

We had an enthusiastic session!

Tummies are full; great visit!  (Did you like our matching outfits?)

It is the largest and most diverse Antique Mall on the planet: 10,000 square feet in a historic, turn-of-century building with 75 Dealers. Everything from Western to Tiffany to art to sports-related to gold and diamonds to costume jewelry to Asian antiques. Vintage to Mid-Century. Authentic antiques. No junque! Prices range from $1 to $10,000. In the oldest historic district in California!!!

We scoured every nook and cranny of the joint! Mary struck gold with many treasures, including a book about collecting Shirley Temple memorabilia, which we promptly gifted to Dianne. You could say we were on a “spirited” treasure hunt!

Across the street, we visited the “Junk Store.”

After arriving home, we went to the hospice home to visit David and meet some of his friends who had brought his car so David could see it for the last time. It is a beautiful 1928 Packard.

We went to the hospice facility when we got home.

A bunch of “the old guys,” all gear heads, showed up to visit with David, but David was not responding.

The Roaring ’20s economy was booming in August 1927 when Packard began a one-year production run of the sleek five-seat 1928 Phaeton four-door convertible. With its 143-inch wheelbase, the Phaeton exemplified VIP status for American celebrities and tycoons.

The Phaeton was one of nine models in the company’s Custom Eight Series 443 luxury line. The Phaeton offered state-of-the-art opulence for its era, with comfortable seats and plenty of legroom. During the model year, the flying Goddess of Speed ornament first appeared on Packard hoods, and 10,568 of the 443s were assembled.

The “Old Guys” were there to visit with David.

We stayed with Dianne until about 1);00 pm and headed home.  I popped out for a quick trip home to check on Scout.

Below, David is assisting in the delivery of Mae West at our home on Saturday, May 18th, 2024.

Wonderful fun with great friends! Mary finally has a brother!

We hit the sack around 11:00 pm.

Friday Was The Hottest!

112 today!

We were up early this morning and stumbled into the garden, looking like zombies. I let the watering system run, hoping it wouldn’t wake up the neighborhood with its loud gurgling. We were out the door at 6:45 am and driving with the speed of a snail on vacation to my dermatologist in Los Alamitos. Who knew dermatology appointments could make for such a thrilling morning?

Dr. Newman had his trusty nitrogen bottle in hand, and Mary pointed, and the good doctor went into action.

Liquid nitrogen is a cold gas with a temperature of 196 degrees below zero Celsius (-321 Fahrenheit). It is used to freeze and destroy superficial skin growths such as warts and keratoses. Liquid nitrogen causes stinging and pain while the growth is frozen and then thawed. The discomfort can last minutes to hours, depending on the thickness of the lesion.

We departed the office at about 7:30 am and met with Vicky at Hoff’s Hut in Los Alamitos.

Hoff’s is a beautiful place to dine, adjacent to Old Ranch and the freeway!

We had an interesting conversation about children “throwing out their parents.”  The three of us understood what that meant but didn’t realize it was so prevalent.

Our favorite waitress was on duty, and she rolled by to say hello!

Merrily, we roll along, roll along, roll along!

After breakfast and two cups of coffee we split with Vicky returning home and us heading to Orange.

Finally, my heart got started!

On the way home, Dianne called, and David took a turn for the worse, so we had Precious speed up. We flew by the house, picked up The Silver Fox, picked Dianne up, and headed to the hospital.

The new gate was installed while we were changing cars, and we told the guys to take care of the vicious dog, Scout.

It opened and closed with ease. The old wooden gate was bye-bye!

There was a parking spot right out front, and we were up on the third floor in a flash. The crisis had passed, so we stayed around until the transportation folks arrived to take David to a hospice facility.

Mary and I returned home and quickly cleaned the house because Domi and the crew were coming to clean it at 3:00 pm, and then we headed to the new facility.

We stopped at Del Taco for some grub for us and Dianne and then went to the hospice house.  David had just arrived and was getting settled in when we showed up.

We stayed until almost 6:00 pm. Robin had just arrived at our house, but she had the keys and made herself at home.  We got there a few minutes later.

We visited with Robin and made several calls to friends Mike and Bridgette, Pam Reed, and others. We were exhausted, so it was early evening!

Just before hitting the sack I went to the web si see when it was going to cool down.  Yikes, three more days of this crazy heat!

It’s a hotter Sunday than today! Oh My!

104 Degrees Today! Oh My!!

We walked the garden and went picking, and to our surprise, we chose a large cardboard box of goodies; cooking this afternoon will be in order as it is too hot to go outside!  We harvested in the garden to make kale chips for Dianne.

The bells were ringing!

We brought everything inside and washed them up to give them away.

The kale was soaked, then torn up, salted, and roasted at 400 degrees until dry. Mary then topped them with cheese until it melted, and we had kale chips fit for a king!

The kale needed to be soaked to get rid of the bugs!

Mary made kale chips using the fresh kale from our garden.  We plan to take it to Dianne at the hospital so she has something to munch on while she is there.

Dog-A-Puss, generally called Scout, had an appointment at the beauty parlor at 10:45 am, so that we will drop him by on our way to the Elks Lodge!

We plan to crank up that A.C. until it’s blowing snowballs.

We checked the forecast before we departed for the Elks!

After dropping Scout off at the beauty parlor, we headed to the Elks Lodge for Girls Night Out. We had a great time with the gang.

We went to the hospital from the Elks to check on David and Dianne.  The decision was made to move David to a beautiful hospice facility that is only minutes away from Dianne’s home and a mere 10 minutes from us.

One hundred two degrees and the elevators were broken; I parked on the 7th floor.

It was hot as Hades outside, peaking at 112 degrees on Chapman Blvd. on our way home.

OUCH! Check the temp!

We stayed at the house until about 7:00 p.m. when Dianne called, and we joined her to see the hospice facility. It was a six-room facility, and it was spotless. Two RNs attend the facility, and geriatric doctors come every day. If all goes well, David will be moved tomorrow, the 6th.

Hospice care focuses on the care, comfort, and quality of life of a person with a severe illness who is approaching the end of life. At some point, it may not be possible to cure a severe illness, or a patient may choose not to undergo specific treatments. Hospice is designed for this situation.

Upon arriving home, we looked outside, and it was still 80 degrees, so we decided to once more take the plunge into the magnificent waters of Casa Valencia.

We had a cloud show overhead as we swam around.

Of course, my trusty plastic wine glass and float made the dip in the liquid wonderful!

I was floating and sipping; what a life!

Around 11:00 p.m., I make Scout get up and go outside. He had been sleeping most of the evening because the beauty parlor took a lot out of him.

Time to tinkle, little one!

One good tinkle, and we’re in for the night! We pray with Dianne and David for a smooth transition to the new facility.

Oh My; The End Of Summer Has Arrived!

We know it is the end of summer!   A looming heat wave in Southern California could break records this week as temperatures will likely climb well above 100 degrees in parts of the region.  The heat wave will bring temperatures roughly 12 to 14 degrees above average in northern Orange County. Several cities, including Brea and Fullerton, may hit triple-digits on Friday.

This is nothing new. Having lived in California all my life, I know there is always a spike at the end of summer, and people worry about the weather.  As we get old, we say “poo” to the gas and electric companies and get the pool ready for a full day of activities!

At 8:15 am, we departed in the Silver Fox for our biweekly battle with our personal trainers.  We arrived on time and did the prerequisite 30+ minutes on the cycles.  Over time, I have moved the workload into the middle range, and I hope that by the end of this next quarter, I can ride uphill the whole time.

I hate it when Mary uses the 50-pound weights, and I still push 30s!

We made a daring voyage to the mystical land of the market, which exists right next to our humble gym. There, we acquired the sacred elixir of calcium known as milk and other essential artifacts for our survival before embarking on the treacherous journey back to our sanctuary at Casa Valencia.

We went into the garage attic and downloaded the Halloween and Fall decorations so we could begin making the house look spooky!

Dianne called, and we decided we should go to the hospital, stay with her for a while, and then take her to lunch; we need to make sure she is caring for herself in this period of turmoil!

In better times!

We went to Benji’s Deli on Tustin and devoured pastrami at an alarming rate!

Oh My!!! What have I done??

After lunch, we dropped off Dianne at the hospital and headed home. As we drove up Chapman Blvd, the car’s thermometer registered 105 degrees.

105?? We could be in Phoenix!!

Upon arriving home, we decided to watch TV in the TV room (once known as the living room) as it was too hot to do anything else.

At 8:30 p.m., we ventured outside into the heat and went swimming. We splashed around for about 90 minutes before returning inside, which was excellent!

It is wine time!!

The blue floaters are handy; I can let the currents take me all over the pool!

It’s time to go inside and out of the water; I am beginning to look like a Shar Pei dog!

We brushed our teeth and hit the sack at 10:15 pm!

Tuesday And We Are Going To Let Blood!

Say what?  It’s that time of year again when they empty out my veins like a maple tree in spring. With Mary by my side, we were up at the crack of dawn, bleary-eyed and ready to hit the road for the “six gallons of blood” extravaganza. It’s like a vampire’s dream come true! Maybe I should ask for a frequent donor card.

The new vampire at the doctor’s office was incredible; we were in and out in five minutes without a blood-curdling scream!

We headed home, but I decided to stop at The Gourmet Pie Company in Los Alamitos. Gourmet Pie and Cafe is a family-owned and operated restaurant started in 1984 by Ruthie, Tony, and Mike Richards. They started Gourmet Pie so they could share their dedication to and obsession with delicious recipes and baked goods with everyone.  The restaurant was initially located in Cypress and started as a bakery specializing in pies, cakes (wedding cakes), breads, pastries, and cookies. Soon after opening, we expanded their menu to include some of our favorite home-cooked meals.

Located on Katella in Los Alamitos

After a fantastic meal, we departed for home, with the only stop being CVS for some meds.  In the afternoon, we did some chores and took naps as the temperature outside was in the 90s.

Mary woke me up around 5:00 pm, and I was tasked with cooking the filet mignon steaks.  These suckers were two inches thick and therefore required an expert’s touch!  I had marinated them for several hours, and they were ready to go!

Why did the steak get promoted? It was a cut above the rest!

They are soaking away!

They went onto the very hot griddle with lots of sizzling and steam.  I gave them three minutes on each side to sear the surface, then lowered the stove to medium and let them cook four minutes per side until the internal temperature was 130 degrees.

In the pan and ready to be eaten!

The word “steak” comes from the Old Norse word “steik,” meaning “roast,” which shows how long this delicious food has been part of human culture.

Meanwhile, Mary prepped the plates with stuffed squash and a stuffed jalapeno!  I gave her a three-minute warning so she could nuke her plates, and the steaks were added after a few minutes of sitting.

Oh my!!! A meal fit for a Ma-Ha-Ra-Ja!

Around 7:00 p.m., Dianne came by after being at the hospital, and we prepared another plate for her; she had half of Mary’s steak! Dianne polished it off without delay. We worry about her keeping herself well, as she has been in and out of the hospital for the past 45 days.

Happier times will always be remembered!

Dianne bid us farewell, and we eagerly made our way to the inviting pool, where the water was a blissful 91 degrees, creating a warm and comforting atmosphere. As we floated around, the carefree ambiance prompted endless giggles and laughter, filling the air with pure joy for another delightful 90 minutes.

Mary is like a duck in the water!

After all the floating, we crashed hard.  I went to brush my teeth and upon returning Mary had attempted to read, but she was sound to sleep;  I removed her glasses, put the book on the table, tucked her in, and kissed her goodnight.

Happy Pierogi Day!

Pierogi are filled dumplings made by wrapping unleavened dough around a filling and cooked in boiling water. They are occasionally flavored with a savory or sweet garnish. Typical fillings include potato, cheese, quark, sauerkraut, ground meat, mushrooms, fruits, and berries.

Did You Know? Traditionally considered peasant food, pierogi eventually gained popularity and spread throughout all social classes, including nobles. Some cookbooks from the 17th century describe how, during that era, the pierogi were considered a staple of the Polish diet, and each holiday had its own special kind of pierogi created. Different shapes and fillings were made for holidays such as Christmas and Easter. Important events like weddings had their own particular type of pierogi kurniki – filled with chicken. Also, pierogi were made especially for mourning or wakes, and some for caroling season in January.Pierogi are an essential part of Polish culture and cuisine today. They are served in various forms and tastes (from sweet to salty to spicy) and are considered the national dish. They are served at many festivals, playing an essential role as a cultural dish. At the 2007 Pierogi Festival in Kraków, 30,000 pierogi were consumed daily.

Polish pierogi are often filled with fresh quark, boiled and minced potatoes, and fried onions. This type is called in Polish pierogi ruskie, which literally means “Ruthenian pierogi” (sometimes being mistranslated as “Russian pierogi”). Ruskie pierogi are probably the most popular pierogi in North America and Poland. The other famous pierogi in Poland are filled with ground meat, mushrooms, and cabbage, or an assortment of fruits (berries, with strawberries or blueberries the most common) for dessert. Sweet pierogi are usually served with sour cream, sugar, and savory pierogi with bacon fat and bacon bits. But before Pierogi time, it was time to get bent!   Mary was in her kerchief, and I was in my cap.  We had just settled down to a long morning’s nap when, out on the breakfast table, there rose such a clatter that I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter.

The dreaded alarm clock reminded us we had to go!  Yes, kiddies, it’s time for the dreaded three-letter word, GYM.  We dressed for the occasion and departed in The Silver Fox.

We arrived and did our 45-minute pre-workout bike rides, leaving the machines ready for the junkyard since smoke was pouring off the back wheels and brakes!

My trainer said “Time to exercise?”  I was so happy,  I thought I  heard “extra fries!”

I’m not a fan of jumping rope, so I tend to skip it.

I got onto the floor and did floor exercises for half an hour, then went to the weights and strength machines, where I am a veritable strong man, able to use three-pound weights with no problem.

Note: The painful sounds and creaking of bones were edited out of this video to save you significant discomfort!

After removing approximately 600 calories, we went to The Coffee Grove, about a two-minute walk from the gym.

We refilled our bodies with the 300 calories we had just lost!

We got an alert: The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning for Orange County Inland on September 2.

We went home and planted some artichokes and dill that we picked up yesterday!

Mary decided to make some extra spicy jalapeno peppers for tonight’s dinner with the kids. It looks like the kids are in for a wild ride at dinnertime!

Notice the gloves; she was brilliant!

Robin and Bob strutted in around 2:00 p.m., ready to conquer Pierogi Night. As the wine flowed, we embarked on a pierogi extravaganza with an array of flavors to dazzle our taste buds. Meanwhile, Bob unleashed his top-secret sauce to accompany a mountain of sizzling sausages. It was a feast so grand that even the neighbors were tempted to crash our royal gathering!

Instead of the neighbors crashing the gates, we took an offering to Jeff and, a few minutes later, received a thumbs-up from him via text message.

The next step for stuffed jalapenos is to wrap them in turkey bacon and then put them in the oven!  The jalapenos were picked this morning and were full of flavor.

I put the bacon in at 350 degrees and set an eight-minute timer. The countdown was like waiting for a rocket launch, but instead of a rocket, it was bacon!

“Bacon, did someone say bacon?”  Scout sniffer was going crazy between the stuffed peppers, sausages, and pierogi!

“Do not forget me!”

The professor was at work slaving over a hot stove and creating a dining experience not to be forgotten!

The pots were boiling cauldrons of water for the pierogis to dance around.

The sausages were cooked to absolute perfection.

This sausage roll only contains 2% of your daily intake of calories… if you lick it.

“I am ready, all ready!”

I love how even the pierogis had their little name tags at the party. It’s like they were saying, ‘Hello, my name is Pierogi, and I’ll be your delicious snack for the evening.

The dinner bell was struck, and we all yelled, “Come and get it!”

The food disappeared as if my magic.  The feeding frenzy was so vicious that the camera was spared the sight of flying pierogies and the gobbling of sausages.

Full tummies; happy yummies!

Oops, I forgot to mention Bob’s pièce de résistance, tour de force, showpieces, claim to fame, and jewel in the crown—shishito peppers sauteed in a secret oil only known to Chef Abdullah Bashir al Khalid Duda!

“I dare you to take a bite out of me!!”

After dinner, we took the kids shopping in the garden and filled two bags with goodies, including grapes, berries, squash, tomatoes, kale, and other goodies.   Chef Duda said he felt like a greengrocer (A greengrocer is a person who owns or operates a shop selling primarily fruit and vegetables.).

Mary was on the prowl for more snacks, as if she were a secret agent searching for the world’s best cookies. Meanwhile, Scout diligently checks the bushes for any hidden elephants because you never know when those sneaky elephants might try to crash the party!

“Come on, Scout, I need you to help!”

Scout does NOT look like he is fourteen years old and often acts like a puppy.

“Hang on there; I am coming to assist!”

The kid departed after cleaning everything up!  For us, it was like going out to dinner.

After the kids departed, we watched TV and the end of the Seal Team series. While watching the show, we took the beans from the dry peapods so we could make soup soon!

Then, the 90-degree pool was calling.  We floated around, laughed, and giggled for another hour.
