We Made It Through The Night With Power!!

It took a lot of work, but I got our transportation going!

We woke up this morning, and while it was still “breezy” (or, as I like to call it, Nature’s way of giving us a free ice bath), the power was on, and the house was warm. I half-expected a polar bear to waltz in and ask for a cup of cocoa! Who knew my biggest challenge would be negotiating the dance moves with Scout, who clearly thought it was time for his morning yoga session right in the middle of my transportation hustle?

I got the trusty van ready by turning on the heat and bringing it to the street against the curb so that Scout could get in quickly.  We exited Casa Valencia with a vroooom and headed to Scout’s beauty parlor.

After dropping him beauty parlor, we went to the Original Pancake House on Chapman and shared one of their vegetarian omelets! 2,000 calories of the delightful breakfast (divided by two as we share)

We attacked the omelet with a vengeance!

Did You Know? The origins of the omelet are disputed, with some believing the Romans created it first and others thinking the French did so. The word “omelet” comes from the French word “omelet,” which means “blade.” The shape of the omelet is thought to have inspired the word. The word “omelet” was first used in the late 17th century in the French cooking publication Cuisine Bourgeoisie.

Oh My! 1400 calories of goodness!

It was time to fly VFR to the OC Airport, pick up Colleen, who was joining us for a week, and celebrate my 80th birthday!  She arrived safe and sound at 11:00 am!  It was terrific to see her here, as the last time was in the Caribbean in August.

We love to see the statue of the great John Wayne, especially when the pigeons decide to hold a “poop convention” on his head. It’s like they’re trying to give him a fancy new hat! Who knew public art came with its own feathered friends?

John made sure Colleen arrived safely!

Santa’s elf is now in the house and we will press her into duty!!

We took her home via Dunkin’ Donuts and Ralph’s Market just in time to turn around and take Mary to her art class at 1:30 pm.

Colleen and I picked Mary up at 3:00 p.m. and headed home to await Robin’s arrival.  We could hardly wait to see what she painted today.

Another masterpiece!!

Perhaps a frame is needed?  Not too bad after only six lessons!

The three little elves!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

We then went to dinner at Renada’s near the traffic circle in Orange.  On a cold winter night there is nothing like a hot Italian dinner!

Time to laugh and giggle.

We had a super meal and then went home via CVS for a med-pickup!

I have the Sinatra special!

I took a short nap, and the ladies worked on the surprise birthday party!

Mary and I watched two movies about WWII and people saving the Jewish people who were the target of the Nazis.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
