Let’s Visit Bob!

Start the day with a smile.

It was a bit rainy, and the cleaning folks were here, so we departed for the Original Pancake House.  In the middle of ordering, we decided to add some for Jan!  Then we called her and told her to prepare for an invasion; we were coming with breakfast!

I asked Mary, “Why do cows lie down in the rain? “She knew a weird answer would be forthcoming!  I answered, “To keep each udder dry.”

We had breakfast at The Original Pancake House!

After visiting Jan, we visited our garden and found the snow peas were going crazy.  Another four inches, and they will pass the top of the netting.

The peas are growing like mad!  We expect to see Jack go up this beanstalk almost anytime!

Did You Know?  Snow peas offer protein, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, vitamins C and K, potassium, magnesium, and iron.  Snow peas are also higher in vitamin C than other types of peas.  They are available year-round, but the peak season is Spring through Early Summer.  The Snow Pea is the earliest cultivated pea, dating back to 9750 BC!

Why are they called “snow” peas?  Some say it’s because they can appear white if the light reflects a certain way off their pods.  But most say it’s because the peas grow very early in the season and aren’t deterred by frost or snow.

It was going to rain hard, according to the weatherman, but we decided to go to the show anyway!

Rain is coming our way.

We stopped at Robin’s home and picked up her and Maggie.  The four of us headed out.  I had four women telling me where to go.  Mary, Robin, Maggie, and the lady inside the GPS!

We saw a bus that ran from our hotel to the casino, and with the rain coming down, door-to-door service was an excellent option!

We rode the bus.

Nine minutes from our hotel to the casino, the girls were happy!

Ladies, we have arrived.

We walked around for a while and tried our hands at losing money, which we are masters at!  We finally found the place where Bob was going to perform and ordered dinner and, of course, a drink!!

When we arrived, Bob was setting up for the performance, and he spotted us and waived!  Did I tell Bob that I knew the best Christmas present ever?  A broken drum, you just can’t beat it.

Bob spots us in the crowd.

He explained what would happen and told us about the soundcheck activities.

Before the performance.

Bob asked me, “What is the difference between a drummer and a guitarist?” I thought long and hard, but nothing came to mind.  He answered by saying, “A drummer has no strings attached.”

The performance started; I thought we were having an earthquake.  The ice cubes in my drink were rattling.  I pulled out my trusty sound level meter and watched it dance around.

dB stands for Decibel, which is the intensity of a sound or the level of loudness at which you hear a sound.  The wrong level will create the wrong ambiance, as music and sound control the mood of a crowd.  At our age, setting the levels to no louder than 70-75 dB would prevent damaging our hearing and make the experience more enjoyable’ we are just old and don’t understand!

Soundcheck revealed 100db was typical.

We had earplugs and sat through the first performance.  After that, we headed back to the hotel.  The concert was terrific, but the old ears had to get a rest!

Interesting!

The light and video work were terrific, but they made taking pictures challenging.

Wow!

Do you see the real Bob and the video Bob in the picture below??  Look carefully; there are four sets of drums and four Bobs.

The video setup was impressive.

Between sets, Bob came out to visit before having dinner backstage.  I asked what a drummer’s favorite food was for dinner, and Bob, of course, answered drumsticks.

After the performance

The ride back to the hotel was uneventful, and we crashed as soon as we arrived.  The rain had stopped, and things were “dry.” Tomorrow we will go home at about 8:30 AM.
