Christmas Gets Packed Away!

The dishwasher stopped working yesterday, so I called two repair people.  The first fellow showed up at 9:00 AM sharp and was excellent.  His name was German, and he was Russian and had been in our country for two years and loved everything about America!  The second guy never showed!

A tiny piece of plastic killed Goliath!

This tiny piece of plastic stopped the dishwasher pump from doing its job!  Thank goodness German found it!

A tiny piece of plastic stopped the machine in its tracks!

He worked for an hour and pulled out a tiny piece of plastic that somehow got to the pump and kept it from turning.  With the plastic removed, the dishwasher came back to life.

Because I knew he would take the dishwasher apart, I hand-washed all the dishes from yesterday; that was the first time I had done dishes in half a century!!

With her broken arm, Mary came in and asked what I was doing.  I answered, “I am doing an aquathermic treatment of ceramics aluminum and steel in a controlled environment.”

On the bright side, arthritis in the thumbs stopped hurting for a while!

We had a friend over who also is an interior decorator, and Mary had her design a dust ruffle for our bed and a set of pillows for the upstairs cupola.  We have wanted to do that for years.

The weather was drizzly most of the day, and we had low clouds!

It looks like a storm is coming in our direction!!

When she departed, Mary made the most fantastic turkey sandwich, and we opened a bottle of champagne just for good measure.  It took us six hours to drink that bottle as we took a sip every time we passed by the table.

I measured my steps yesterday, and we both went over 7,000 at the end of the day!  We never left the house. It was walking one end to the other over and over, putting away Christmas!

For the rest of the day, from noon until 8:00 PM, we worked at packing up Christmas.  We got it about 90% packed but gave up at 9:00 PM and hit the sack.

The garage now holds about 80% of the Christmas boxes; we plan to move the tree ornaments into the upstairs attic so they can be near the tree next year!

Since it is raining, I plan to call my car wash man and offer him a job to come over and put up Christmas in the attic.

We were too tired to do anything else, and on our way to bed, we called Jan to check in on her.  We crashed 13.56 milliseconds after getting horizontal!

My wife told me that before I come to bed, she’d like me to start the dishwasher, set the coffee maker, and bring her some water.  I said, “Ok, but I’m bound to forget one of those two things.”

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
