Why isn’t the number 11 pronounced onety one?
Time for a stroll through the garden! Finally it is growing but it is behind schedule since it was been so cold! The “seats” around the beds are perfect for this ol’ body as I can sit and pull weeds without bending over and breaking the back!
Each of the three beds are 4′ x 25′ long (300 square feet) plus the beds along the north and east walls is 4′ wide by almost 100 feet long….so, we garden in about 700 square feet! Plenty of garden for the two of us!
Our son, Mitch, is a “cornologist” and he stops by once a week and advises. We are about three weeks from “corn shaking” meaning because the corn is only planted 6×10, we need to make sure the boys (tassels) meet the girls (the silk) and that means we shake the tassels manually twice a day during “mating season”…when the tassels are opened up and the the pollen shaken onto the silk below.
We had the garden updated with the sitting walls (raised beds) about four years ago…for my 70th birthday! Works vert well! Weeding is a snap… pull them..tos son the ground…sweep them up!
At noon, I did a “wine run” and visited the local Lowe’s hardware store. Our pomegranate tree has gone berserk…so loaded with fruit the branches are sagging. I needed 12 gauge steel wire tie to support them so to Lowe’s I go! While there I got a new fence mending tool.
While at Long Beach Towne Center, I stopped at Total Wine and got five 1/2 cases of non-alcoholic wine. One of the staff, a young black lady, and I have hit it off! Her dad is a little younger than me so I always tell her a joke (to relay to her dad) that only people my age would get and she returns with a joke from her dad equally as vintage. We have a good time with our exchanges! Lovely person!
We watched some TV in the afternoon and then got ready to save the world again with Irene at Melanies.
As soon as we got home, we called the Lind’s on the bat phone and visited with Miss Lilly, Remy, and Daddy Zack. We caught up on the weekend and bemoaned the fact we didn’t meet at Disneyland!
We watched TV until midnight and crashed. Tomorrow is get ready for Avalon day plus some additional errands and work around the house!
