Sunday Was A Day Of Rest…. NOT!

God’s Plan For Aging – Happy 2018

Most seniors never get enough exercise. In His wisdom God decreed that seniors become forgetful so they would have to search for their glasses, keys and other things, thus doing more walking. And God looked down and saw that it was good.

Then God saw there was another need. In His wisdom, He made seniors lose co-ordination so they would drop things, requiring them to bend, reach, and stretch. And God looked down and saw that it was good.

Then God considered the function of bladders and decided seniors would have additional calls of nature, requiring more trips to the bathroom, thus providing more exercise. God looked down and saw that it was good.

So, if you find as you age, you are getting up and down more, remember it’s God’s will. It is all in your best interest even though you mutter under your breath.

We are celebrating today! 4,000 and counting!

We have been retired 4,000 days today!!!

It was a good day!  Paul hit the yard fairly early moving dirt, digging up weeds, and doing general upkeep!  We went to H&H Nursery and got some additional tomatoes and other essentials.  We also got one more raspberry as we are going to try out hands at berry ranching!

The weather was pretty nice most of the day so mid-day we stopped and binged on three episodes of Grey’s Anatomy.  We then got “cleaned up” amd went to Old Ranch for a glass of our special wine (non-alcoholic that is).  we ran into Rocki, Billwinkle, Linda and James.  So we all joined together and had drinks and a lite dinner.  PAul, at Rocki’s recommendation, did the Mulligan Stew… Excellent recommendation!  It was great!

Did You Know? Five or six hobos join in this. One builds a fire and rustles a can. Another has to procure meat; another potatoes; one fellow pledges himself to obtain bread, and still another has to furnish onions, salt and pepper. If a chicken can be stolen, so much the better. The whole outfit is placed in the can and boiled until it is done. If one of the men is successful in procuring “Java,” an oyster can is used for a coffee tank, and this is also put on the fire to boil. Incidentally, it may be mentioned that California hobos always put a “snipe” in their coffee, to give it that delicate amber color and to add to the aroma. “Snipe” is hobo for the butt end of a cigar that smokers throw down in the streets. All hobos have large quantities of snipes in their pockets, for both chewing and smoking purposes. A “beggar stew” is a “mulligan,” without any meat.

Simply good groceries!

A fine stove for Mulligan Stew!

We headed home about 8:00 PM and watched TV before crashing!  Great fun!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
