Here, There, Everywhere!

It’s the day before the “big storm” and we did errands and went dancing at the Phoenix Club.  An intense winter storm is expected to dump the heaviest rains in 10 to 20 years over Los Angeles and neighboring areas from mid0day Friday to early Saturday. Flash flooding and mud slides are expected.

We stayed home until about 1:00 PM as Paul was going to get a call from Grand Prairie Texas where the Nexx folks were troubleshooting a problem with the garage door remote.  The call came in and it was a miracle.  Paul had to go into the router and disable auto-rebooting of a specific MAC address.  So far, it has worked well.  When we got home from the Phoenix Club at 10:42 PM the garage door opened as we pulled in the driveway because it knew where we were!

Did You Know? Each device is assigned a MAC address by its manufacturer. The original Xerox Ethernet addressing scheme is still used to assign MAC addresses. It allows MAC addresses to be 48-bits long. So, there are  281,474,976,710,656 possible MAC addresses.  A MAC address is mainly used by a switch to direct the data to the right place almost like an address. The IP is the road name and the MAC address is the door number.

We did our errands with the initial destination being the bank and the shipping store.  Paul is cleaning out the old TV stand and he decided to send about 50+ Disney DVD movies to Colleen, our daughter!  Sue went to the bank which was right next door.  We then went to the cleaners and dropped by Old Ranch for some liquid encouragement.  The Sous Chef had prepared some vegetable soup which was indeed vegetarian so Paul tried it… Had to be good, Sue also approved. Excellent!

At 5:00 PM, we departed for the local nursery as we wanted to get some blueberry fertilizer and fertilize the blueberries before the rain storm arrives.  We also picked up some shelling peas and some very early tomatoes… We could not resist.

Flowering Cherry Tree was beautiful

The peas and tomatoes are staying in the garage tomorrow as a super rain storm is due in and we do not want them to drown!

So bright they almost jumped out of the pot!

Where next? Patty’s Place where we had one drink and Paul tried their Corn Chowder which was wonderful!  Now, finally a real destination… The Phoenix Club where we met up with the gang plus Connor and Kayla!  We had a great evening.

After coming home, we watched another murder mystery and it was full of twists and turns!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
