A Full Day Ahead Of Us

Paul went walking. Almost all of Christmas is now down and in their little boxes for a year.  We are staring to see Valentines Day flags and decorations.  Join the parade!

We stayed around the house after doing some chores.  We departed for Fullerton at 5:30 to attend the Starlighters Winter Casual dance at the Howard Johnson hotel on Union street.  Great to see everybody. Join the dance!

We got some bad news.  Bob Kegel passed away 12/12/2015.  Bob and Paul went to the same Junior High School, albeit 15 years apart, and compared notes and we had many of the same teachers!  We also found out that the Bailey’s two precious little baby dogs were killed by coyotes.  The coyotes tore out a steel cage moving it two feet from their home and attacked/killed the babies.

We also had to tell many members that Al Callo also passed.  Al left us on Tuesday the 12th of January after a bout with cancer.

So, not to be slackers, we stayed at the dance until 7:45 and then high-tailed it to Cerritos and caught the Cerritos Performing Arts Center presentation of Doo Wop!  Great show! The Best of Doo-Wop Vol. II when the genre’s icons unite! Jam with the Vocal Group Hall of Fame band The Duprees (Have You Heard, My Own True Love, and You Belong to Me). The lineup also includes Jimmy Clanton (Just a Dream, A Letter to an Angel, and Venus in Blue Jeans); Milton Love, the original lead singer of the Solitaires (Walking Along); and Tony Middleton, original singer of the Willows (Church Bells May Ring and My Dear Dearest Darling). Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon (Tallahassee Lassie and Palisades Park) also performs.

Simply great music!

We were not tired yet so we then went to Patty’s Place and closed it down getting home about 12:30!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
