Sunday Was A Beautiful Winter-Spring Day!

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

We enjoy our morning coffee!

Mary was up before me, as I had a severe coughing fit last night and finally fell asleep around 4:00 am.  We had nothing planned today so we took it easy.

Mary attacked her roses and came into the house with four vases full of magnificent roses.  Scout provided adult supervision while watching out for elephants!

Scout assumed the position, making sure the yard was safe for us.

I got up and mainly helped retrieve gardening tools and do some trimming using the power trimmer.  The rest of the time, I helped Scout supervise!

We got a text from Amy, our daughter-in-law, and she, her mom, and dad will be joining us for Mother’s Day at the Elks Lodge!  We will have almost twenty people for the celebration!

Mary turned her clippings into impressive displays, and the entire house smelled of roses.

Mary added some flowers to those brought by Bonnie this week.

The roses were simply magnificent!

They were brighter red than a fire engine!!

After picking the roses, Mary began cooking up a batch of beans, my favorite.  The beans were cooked all afternoon.

In the mid-afternoon, we got a call from Bob and Robion.  They were at Disneyland and decided to drop by for a visit, which we always enjoy.  We sat on the patio and drank some champagne.  We retold stories and relived the walk in the rainstorm yesterday!

They stayed for a couple of hours,  and on their way home, Mary gave them her Butter Rose display.  I think the proper name was Julia Child.  The flowers were butter colored!

These will last a week!

We took some beans over to Jeff and visited for a while, leaving him with dinner for tonight and tomorrow!

Returning home, we watched TV until around 9:00 pm.   I did my breathing activity before crashing (or attempting to crash).  This was another night of coughing, so I got up, read the news, and visited quora.com until around 3:30. Then I dropped off to sleep until 7:30 am.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
