A Walking We Will Go

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Today we have an adventure planned!  At 9:45 am, we headed to Floral Gardens in Santa Ana, where Bob and Donna live.  We met up with them and Robin and Bob for a walk through some of the older homes.

We thought it might not rain, and then all of a sudden, the clouds let loose with a torrential downpour.  We showed up like we were about to star in a weather-themed reality show, decked out in warm coats and armed with umbrellas—because who doesn’t love a surprise downpour? Ready to tackle rain like it was a fierce opponent, we were determined to emerge victorious!

These homes were primarily built in the 1920s but have been updated and brought to code over the years.  It was amazing to see what kitchens looked like in the past.  The gardens associated with the homes were quite impressive!

The purple flags out front told us where to go!

We saw many homes and gardens today, even though it was raining!

The rain washed away all the dust, and the flowers shone bright in the occasional sunlight that filtered through the passing clouds.

Fire engine red!

We kept the umbrellas handy (look at the raindrops in the pool).

It was raining pretty hard for quite a while.

We stopped and visited all the stands along the street, and we stumbled upon two ancient antiques.  (I know I will be in trouble for this!!)

We saw two amazing antiques.

Many people brought their vintage cars to show, and the local fire department brought their equipment just in case of an emergency!

No fires today, it was too wet!

The sign was too funny to pass up, although one would have to be 6’6″ before and serious head-bangins would be involved.  I offered to carry Bob on my back to see if it worked, but he thoughtfully declined my offer.

Check out the sign!

Our gang stood out today!!

Clunk!

People are so clever, as evidenced by the carefully placed mirror in one of the gardens.  I need to practice smiling and taking a picture at the same time!

Mirror, mirror on the wall.

Arbors were found in almost every garden, and the roses were enjoying the Springtime.  We plan to do the same in our front yard, over the entrance.

Deep in the woods!

After our two-mile walk (YES, two miles), we went over close to the Orange Circle and had a delightful Mexican lunch at a converted church!  We laughed and giggled for quite a while recounting this morning’s escapades.

Lunch with Donna and Bob!

We headed home after lunch.  We missed Robin and Bob as they had to pick up Bob’s car, which was in the shop.  They called home and surprised him by saying the shop closes at 3:00 pm, so they had to skip lunch!

Returning home, we watched several episodes of The Blacklist and crashed around 10:30 pm; it was a good day!

I worked on the Daily Diary while doing my breathing treatment.
