Thursday Has Come On Stage; We Shall Celebrate!

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

Mary woke up ready to go to her eye doctor!

We woke up at 7:00 am and headed to Huntington Beach to visit Mary’s former office partner, who is an optician. Mary thought her glasses needed some adjustments. However, after the check-up, there was very little change, so she didn’t need to get new glasses.

It was 10:15 AM when Mary finally finished her appointment, so we made our grand exit for the Elks Lodge—home of drinks, snacks, and questionable karaoke choices! As we strolled into the lodge, we found ourselves deep in a conversation about names. Suddenly, I had an epiphany, recalling a humorous tidbit from my history reading. Who knew learning could lead to this level of puns?

Yup! It is handy to be a history major!

We rolled into the Elks around 11:35 AM, just in time to make sure the lunch specials were still on the table and not just a distant memory. Shortly after, Bob Z. sauntered in like he owned the place. Before we knew it, Bill Capps showed up alongside Iris and Wil, and we suddenly had a quorum!

It was time to order lunch—because in our world, it’s not just a meal; it’s a carefully orchestrated event where selecting the proper sandwich could make or break your day.

The most interesting item on today’s discussion list was Bill Capps getting a “facial”.   His bride suggested he needed one (or two) before the big day.  We all immediately conjured up what Bill would look like; it was frightening!

I explained to Bill what a facial was, although I didn’t mention that he should wear clean underwear and check if he was allergic to roses, pickles, or green mud!

A facial is a multi-step skincare treatment designed to cleanse, exfoliate, and rejuvenate the skin, often performed in spas or aesthetic clinics. It aims to improve skin health and appearance by removing dead skin cells, impurities, and excess oil, while also hydrating and nourishing the skin.

Lunch was excellent; Mary made the swordfish, while I had a cup of chili and a small Caesar salad.  I am bound and determined to be under 200 pounds by Easter!

Mary did the challenge coin routine on Ronnie, but today, Ronnie was armed and ready to reciprocate!

We returned home via two banks and CVS pharmacy, finally getting in the house at 3:00 pm.   We took Jeff some carrot cake, one of his favorite desserts. I showed him his present to me yesterday, and he was happy I was wearing it.  Now I don’t have to drag around the Oximeter when we’re out.

More goodies to get confused by, but it works!

We received delivery of Mary’s new artist’s desk, and I attempted to carry it upstairs, but alas, I ran out of steam on the first step.  On Easter, we will have help as Bob and Nick will assist me dragging it up fifteen stairs and then maybe assembling it!

Once this is put together, we can retire the card table and make her “Loft” look professional, complete with overhead lighting and supply storage facilities.

The day was cold, with a high of 58 degrees, so we stayed inside and watched TV.   Dinner was comfort food this evening with a generous serving of mac and cheese with cut-up weenies.  We watched TV in the TV room, and around 9:00 pm, I prepared some cut-up strawberries with sprinkled confectioners’ sugar and a generous topping of whipped cream! Mary had her half-glass of wine, and I polished off a bottle of water!

We crashed at 11:00 pm after I spent thirty minutes suckng on the nebulizer!
