Thursday Has Come; We Know The Drill And Are Prepared!

Every time I get on my bathroom scale, it says, “One at a time, please!”

We waited until 9:00 am to call the Elks and get reservations for Saturday night featuring prime rib and Ronnie the DJ.  So far we have the Z’s, the K’s,  the C’a and us planning to attend. We hope Robin will join us as Bob has a gig in Santa Monica that evening.

There were eleven of us today, as the Ashs joined us, along with Sydney and her dad. We had a wonderful time once we got there! It took 40 minutes to drive to the Elks today because they closed off the Katella entrance to the freeway. We had to wait seven lights just to get onto Tustin, and then we went down side streets to 17th Street.

The gang is all here!

After lunch, we stopped at the hospital to see David.  Mary went up to visit, and I stayed in the lobby.  He is hanging in there, but his condition is deteriorating slowly.  We are looking into the next couple of months to ensure we are available for Dianne when she needs us.

After returning home, we took a short nap before Robin came to join us.  At 4:30 pm, we were up, alert, and ready to take on the day!

We called Jeff to make sure the porch light was lit and shining like a UFO landing pad. So, naturally, we wandered over and ended up having a marathon chat with him for an hour. By the time we left, we were sure the porch light had burned out from exhaustion.

We decided to go into our house via the front door (not the garage) to show Robin our latest sign!

Mary’s new sign.

We called Bob on the Bat phone and chatted with him for about twenty minutes.  This also allowed Robin to see what we see when we call her!

I love the propeller!

I should have mentioned that Vicky dropped by at 4:45 because the ladies (Mary, Robin, and Vicky)  were planning my surprise 80th birthday party.  The past eighty years on this planet had been a joy ride, and now I am subjected to Mary, who keeps track of my age on the wall!

My 80th is coming up, and they are tormenting me!

The weather was so lovely that we decided to head to the firepit, ignite it, and indulge in two solid marshmallows each! Yep, we might have consumed about 220 calories, but hey, it was totally worth it for those perfectly roasted treats!

Marshmallow time!

It was 10:00 p.m., and we all crashed!  If all goes well, tomorrow is the OC Fair!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
