The Turd Of November And We Are At The elks!

Mary operates and saves everything!

First things first, we are off to Huntington Beach to see the periodontist as I am getting fitted for a new tooth.  One of my molars is kaput; imagine that after almost 80 years??  I was getting a 3-D x-ray, so it was not a long appointment.

No pain today!! Just an x-ray!

We decided on the way home to stop at the exclusive new Mexican restaurant called Del Taco, where Mary attacked their most unique burrito offering.  I went with a bean and cheese burrito and washed it down with two Del Taco’s; plenty of hot sauce was used!  Mary got dropped off at 1:00 p.m. sharp, and I went home and did some chores around the house.

I had some time to think, and this is what I thought about!

After picking her up at 2:00 p.m., we stayed home until it was time to dance at the Elks!  We were “tired” for some reason and needed to veg out!

In the afternoon, we started watching Wild Wild West.  The Wild Wild West is an American Western, espionage, and science fiction television series that ran on the CBS television network for four seasons from September 17, 1965, to April 11, 1969.

Developed when the television Western was losing ground to the spy genre, this show was conceived by its creator, Michael Garrison, as “James Bond on horseback.” Set during the administration of President Ulysses Grant (1869–1877), the series followed Secret Service agents James West (Robert Conrad) and Artemus Gordon (Ross Martin) as they foiled the plans of megalomaniacal villains to take over part or all of the United States, protected the President, and solved crimes.

Yes, it was in black and white!

Do you remember?

We departed for the Santa Ana Elks at 5:15 p.m. and encountered Friday evening rush hour traffic on our way, but thankfully, it wasn’t too heavy.

The off-ramp is only one mile away!

We arrived right on time and were the first ones at our table.  The place was quite crowded, but the music was fantastic.  The DJ/singer had a great sense of the audience, and we danced and danced and danced some more.

Our table for ten was placed in the center of the room, providing easy access to the salad bar and the dance floor.

Bob Carlson had the chicken pot pie Thursday, so I tried it; he was correct; the pie was great!  What is the sauce made of in chicken pot pie?  Butter, chopped onions, peas, carrots, flour, broth, a little heavy cream, and a splash of white wine.  It has a lot of chicken in it also!

It was perfectly done!

Next door, there was a homecoming prom organized by a local high school.  As Mary and I walked past the chaperones, we inquired about their duty hours, and they informed us that they would be off duty at 8:30 p.m.  So, we invited them to join us after the prom for a drink since they would need one after all the noise!

Just us!

The Capps, Beanders, and Zaitz joined us, and we kicked up dust, dancing the Cowboy Cha Cha and waltzing across Texas.

Bill and Mary C.

Our evening’s entertainment came by for a quick visit!

He knew his audience!

Remember tomorrow!
