What A Day!

We sat in the Swim Spa, watching the world go by and carefully planning the day!  The temperature outside was not too bad, and we went through three 15-minute bubble cycles before deciding to return to the house.  We enjoyed our coffee and commented on how everything was so clean after the rain.

Mary and I got ready to attack the hall closer because it looked like Fibber McGee’s closet.  (I remember listening to the show on the radio in the early 1950s; listen here)

Did You Know?  Fibber McGee and Molly was the finest husband-and-wife comedy team.  It ran on the radio from 1935 to 1959, then switched to television in 1959.

So I got a text from Vicky at 9:00 AM asking if she could go to Old Ranch for breakfast and the message also said we were welcome to join her.  I called and made reservations.  I showed the message to Mary, and she said, “My, what a wonderful idea, breakfast at the club!” We dropped everything, got ready in twenty minutes, and headed to Old Ranch in Precious.

Yes, we name our cars!  Meet Precious!

Mary wore her cowboy costume and wanted a picture with Lampson, the trusty Old Ranch mascot.

Remember: “You know horses are more intelligent than human beings.  You have never heard of a horse going broke betting on people.” – Will Rogers.

Mary with Lampson.

Explained!  I bet he does not like and lamp on his head!

When we arrived, Vicky was already there.  After twenty minutes, Jim joined us.

Jim and Vicky made for a delightful morning.

We had a  most delightful meal and time to visit.  Jim loves country music and the Statler Brothers; therefore, he can’t be bad!

We love Dolly and listen to her all the time.

We talked for two hours, enjoying peeling back the onion!  Finally, around 12:30, it was time to go home and continue our closet plans.

There is a gang of rustlers if there ever were one.

We arrived home at 1:00 PM and went to work on the closet.  Fibber would have been proud of us; we can not open the door without an avalanche of plastic bags raining down on our heads.  Now Scout’s canned food can be reached on the bottom of the closet instead be being precariously balanced on the top shelf requiring a warning call to 911 every morning when we feed Scout.

Feeling empowered, Mary and I attacked our washroom closet, extracting Scout’s costumes and other gear from the broom closet and organizing the brooms, mops, and other cleaning gear.

We are on a roll.  Two closets completed!  Time to declare victory and stop to watch a movie.  While Mary went outside and picked some veggies for our dinner, I unwrapped the fantastic Oklahoma steak that had been thawing for two days and marinated it in a top-secret concoction of seasonings/sauces known only to me.

The broccoli and snow peas were perfect, and the snow peas melted in our mouths.

FRESH from our garden.

This is why we have a garden!  From ground to the table in less than 30 minutes, veggies do not get any fresher than this; if there were, we would have to slap them silly.

The broccoli was terrific.

I pan-fried the steak searing it first on each side and then lowering the temperature to medium and going six minutes a side; medium rare it was!!

We shared this excellent steak from David and Diane.

I forgot to take a picture of the final product because it was good; we just dived right into the meal.

We watched the last two episodes of Fire Country.  The series has been renewed, so we will have to wait for the next episodes.  Filming of the series began in July 2022 in Vancouver, Canada, and is scheduled to continue until December 2022.  The series uses the nearby village of Fort Langley to portray the fictional Northern California town of Edgewater.

After dinner, Mary scrounged up some ice yogurt on a stick, and it was terrific; we then decided we needed an adventure movie, so we found “Rambo; Last Blood.”

Last Blood was theatrically released on September 20, 2019, to negative reviews, with criticisms aimed at the script, graphic violence, and accusations of racist and xenophobic attitudes toward Mexico.  However, Stallone received some praise for his return to the lead role.  The film grossed $91.5 million worldwide against a production budget of $50 million and print and advertisement costs of $30 million.
