Fact: Shakespeare’s Globe is the only building in London allowed to have a thatched roof since the Great Fire in 1666.
Today was supposed to be a slow day, but alas, it turned out to be very busy. Mary headed for the kitchen and made goodies out of the eggplants that our neighbor brought over yesterday. Not only do they look beautiful, but they also taste magnificent.
Mary had some filling left over, so she put them in little bowls and sprinkled cheese on them, which was also absolutely fantastic. I am blessed to have a beautiful wife and a very talented one.
We worked around the house just doing odd jobs that had been in the planning for a long time, and then suddenly, the phone rang; it was Robin. She had just been hit by a car from the parking lot on seal Beach Boulevard. I jumped in my car and raced over to where she was well; Mary got cleaned up and got into her “doctor suit” if she had to go to the hospital and push her way around, she could.
Robin came home with me, and we had margaritas ready for her. We set for about an hour so she could calm down and then decided we would continue to go to the show tonight, or we had tickets to see Top Gun.
Mary hadn’t been to a movie in probably five years, which is about the same as it is for me. Robin, Mary, and I had seats in row seven, which means right in the screen’s center. They were perfect seats. I was going to get a glass of wine and mellow out, but I decided at the last minute I would night. Besides, wine and hotdogs don’t go together.
It was good that I didn’t have any wine because as we turned onto Katella to come home, the police had an alcohol trap and pulled people over. The friendly officer asked to see my driver’s license and asked me if I had any alcohol; I told him no, sir, but I had an extra Diet Coke at the show, and I had to get home.
When we got home, the three of us set up by the fire pit for another hour or so; I think it was close to 11 o’clock when we finally decided to turn off the gas. It was a lovely visit, and I’m glad we were there to help Robin through the trauma of another accident.
