COVID To The Left; COVID To The Right!

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

I love when candy canes are in mint condition.

We had a wonderful time last night with our family and friends.

We got ready to do errands, and then the call came in that Mary was exposed to COVID-19 via an employee at her private practice.  We stopped immediately and called the VA so she could get tested and tested she was.  We expect the results tomorrow morning.  Mary was a little confused about the signs?

We had planned to go to Banning and visit Annie and then go dancing, but we made changes.  We did a fly-by at Annie’s, only going in to deliver some goodies, and then we called the Zaitz and canceled our visit to the dance!

We got home at about 8:00 PM and went into the hot tub before watching TV.  We started White Christmas.  It was the first movie made in VistaVision.

Did You Know?VistaVision is a higher resolution, widescreen variant of the 35 mm motion picture film format, which was created by engineers at Paramount Pictures in 1954.

Paramount did not use anamorphic processes such as CinemaScope but refined the quality of its flat widescreen system by orienting the 35 mm negative horizontally in the camera gate and shooting onto a larger area, which yielded a finer-grained projection print.

As finer-grained film stocks appeared on the market, VistaVision became obsolete. Paramount dropped the format after only seven years. However, for another 40 years, the format was used by some European and Japanese producers for feature films and by American films such as the first three Star Wars movies for high-resolution special effects sequences.

In many ways, VistaVision was a testing ground for cinematography ideas that evolved into 70 mm IMAX and OMNIMAX film formats in the 1970s. Both IMAX and OMNIMAX are oriented sideways, like VistaVision.

A must-see movie.

We will finish off the movie tomorrow.  Scout was too pooped to pop so we hit the sack!

I can smells turkey already!
