Hey! We Made It Through Another Wild Weekend!

Money talks … but all mine ever says is good-bye.

OK, it is going to be a great week! All will be well with the world!  Now that is out of my system, let’s see how it goes.

While awaiting the clock to strike eleven, we got a call from Rebecca, and she wanted to drop over for a visit.  It is MLK Day, and the kids and she were out of school for the holiday. Yeah!

Rebecca brought Sue a new “battery-powered” Makita jacket.  Zack found it and could not resist.  We are charging up the batteries now! Thanks, kids, for being so thoughtful!

Now we can call Sue the  “Electric Grandma”!

Miss Lilly and I did some serious fruit picking the front yard.  We got tangerines, oranges, blood oranges, and grapefruit filling an entire Ralpbh’s shopping bag.  Silly Lilly could hardly lift the bag when we were finished!

We visited for an hour before they headed out to lunch and over to Becca’s folk’s house

After they departed, I headed to the yard for an hour to dig weeds and prepare for the spring planting frenzy expected in the next thirty days!

The ground is now ready! The bag of potatoes has sprouted so they will be planted, and we will have spuds in about70 days!

The pomegranate tree was quite prolific this past season, and I need to trim the sucker.  I usually go to YouTube and watch a video on cutting before I begin because I can’t remember year to year.

When I get done, it will be significantly smaller! The fence is six feet, so I have about six feet to cut off!

We had lunch with the pizza making it’s finally landing on our plates.  I scrambled up three eggs and microwaved some bacon to add to min.  We also shared a can of soup!  Good groceries.

After lunch, I worked on the Starlighter’s website from the dance on Saturday before going to the back yard and attacking the garden.

The grapes got a significant haircut. I threw the cuttings onto the ground and will have our gardner clean everything up this Friday. I’m getting too old to do that kind of work, haha!

We have about 700 square feet in cultivation in the back yard, so I completed about 200 square feet today.  I did the most comfortable first as I am just getting started in the garden and plan to sneak up on it!

Each of the beds surrounded by brick is four feet wide and twenty-five feet long or one hundred square feet. You see two of the four in the back yard.

The hand shovel is all I need, and I can sit on the small walls and work (that was a birthday present to myself a few years ago!).

By 3:00 PM, I was tired, and Shaun Hannity was off-the-air, so I went in to watch a little TV with my bride before cleaning up for the Monday ritual!

We got in under the wire as Melanie’s closed at 5:30 PM since they were having their Christmas Party a little late.

We shared a pizza with Irene and then headed home to watch some TV.  I finished the Starlighter’s website about 1:30 AM and then crashed hard!

The poor guy below was having gopher problems, and he discovered a new way to deal with them!  He apparently poured a gallon or so of gasoline into the gopher It’s pretty funny!  I sent the video to Zack and Jon in case they had any ideas!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
