Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.
Today we have been retired 12 Years, 4 Months, and 16 Days! We also made contact with a relative…thanks to Colleen. We have struck up a friendship with my uncle Carl’s grand daughter who lives in Indiana.
I listened to Rush for a while when I was in the shop. He is so very funny and quite right on 99% of his topics!
Well. we had planned to go to Laguna Canyon for lunch, wine tasting, dinner and the Pageant of the Masters. My COPD has been acting up and it chose today to really kick in. We did a wave off and stayed home. My bride is a stickler for taking care of me…it was probably a good idea.
We watched TV and I did a lot of computer work plus I watered my orchids and talked to them. They are wonderful conversationalists!
A quick walk in the garden revealed we had visitors…not Raccoons this time but Japanese Beetles in our figs!
Did You Know? The Japanese beetle (Popillia japonica) is a species of scarab beetle. The adult measures 15 mm (0.6 in) in length and 10 mm (0.4 in) in width, has iridescent copper-colored elytra and a green thorax and head. It is not very destructive in Japan, where it is controlled by natural predators, but in North America, it is a noted pest of about 300 species of plants including rose bushes, grapes, hops, canna, crape myrtles, birch trees, linden trees, and others.
The ol’ pantry was getting bare so I did make a Ralph’s run and came back with all sorts of goodies. I made corn soup tonight…just had a hankering for this dish! I like fiddling around in the kitchen! My bride is a wizard in the kitchen and she, after 30 years, is teaching me! It is amazing how much I picked up from her!
We watched TV and the coughing seems to have stopped…having the air conditioner on and removing the moisture from the air helps! We had tookies about 10:30 PM and headed for bed around 11:30 PM.
