Mid Week And All Is Well

In the U.S. a pig has to weigh more than 180 lbs to be called a hog.

Hey… the God’s are smiling! The puzzle is 90% complete…only the sky remains to be jammed together! This means tomorrow it can be put away and labeled “Not for the faint of heart!”. We are hoping that we do not have to bring out the “exacto” knives again!

With the nice cleaning people scheduled today I ran around the house straightening everything up! Huh? Yep? We wanted the house to look nice for them! We decided to go have Greek food on 2nd street down by the beach and it was fantastic. Stuffed steak with spinach and cheese…the bestest!

We watched our cleaning folks as they scurried around the house using many of our security cameras…thanks to Nest! The folks enjoy it because when they show up we turn on the air conditioning and turn Spanish Love Songs via Alexa. Domilita and her crew are just super!

Sue awaits the arrival of the saganaki!

No it is NOT a Japanese delight! Saganaki is a type of pan used by the Greeks but in America it refers to slightly melted cheese served with a touch of alcohol and some lemon juice. We make it at home sometimes. The signature is the flame shooting up from the pan attempting to singe eyebrows and other low-lying items!

Saganaki (flaming cheese) has arrived… the meal can begin! Opa!!

We asked Nikki (the restaurant manager and daughter of George) how George was doing. George is 83 and has lung cancer which he beat last year but apparently it has metastasized into his other lung and he is undergoing treatments but is very weak and seldom comes to the flagship restaurant in downtown Long Beach (on Pine).

We had planned tot do the OC Fair but my foot was acting up and we just didn’t have the energy. We have gone to the fair for almost 32 years so going only once was OK this year! We returned home and did a wine run instead! It feels good to go to the hardware store, look at the tools, and not need a single thing!

Amazing what you can do when yo have the tools!

We watched some TV in the afternoon and then decided Patty’s Place was the place to be. Off we went for a drink and a slice of pie. I had my usual gin and tonic but purple was in my near future.

First I needed a -007 which is a gin and vodka martini using Empress 1908 gin and Kettle One vodka!

One of my favorites… It’s called a “-007″…Half purple gin and half Kettle One vodka!

Back to Earth… a simple gin and tonic to ready my palette for the key lime pie!

Me second drink was a simple gin and tonic

The secret is Empress Gin. Since 1908, travellers from around the world have fallen in love with the Fairmont Empress Hotel for its majestic grandeur, picturesque vistas, and incomparable afternoon tea service. Overlooking the Inner Harbour in Victoria, British Columbia, this iconic destination has hosted royalty, dignitaries, and discerning explorers for over a century. They needed a signature drink so Empress 1908 was born! Micro-distilled in small batch copper-pot stills, Empress 1908 is hand-crafted using eight signature botanicals: tea, juniper, rose, coriander seed, grapefruit peel, ginger root, cinnamon bark, and butterfly pea blossom.

We headed home as it got dark and enjoyed a great evening watching TV and doing our tookies!
