The Weekend Approaches

Acupuncture is a jab well done!

I am up at 4:00 AM saying bye to our youngest daughter who has been staying with us. She has a 6 AM flight out of LAX. I went back to bed and hid under the covers until 7:30 AM at which time my internal rooster went off and I had to get up and begin the day!

Colleen is winging her way east arriving in Boston about noon so we can begin talking to her this afternoon! We love our Alexa Show…get to see all the great grandkids almost every day! I always wanted to be Grand Pop Pop!

Old Picture Time! This was my grandfathers home in McRae Arkansas. It was build in the late 1800’s and it where my father was born in 1906. McRaw has a population of 430 people (counting cats and dogs) and northeast of Little Rock about 40 miles. If you click the picture and carefully look around the pile of limbs, you will spot me and two other kids who played in the remains of a fallen tree. We stacked and re-stacked that pile ten times making houses, forts, and who knows what.

The year is 1953 so space ships were not yet all that popular. On the right side of the house, adjacent ot the kitchen was a well and I can still taste the ice cold water that we pulled up in a long cylindrical metal bucket. The house had a hand pump in the kitchen for water.

I remember every afternoon about 3:00 PM the skies would darken, the thunderstorm was wonder by dumping a half-inch of rain and the trees would sway back and forth between the brilliant flashes of lightening.  Great fun for a kid!

The house is now gone as it was left empty after grandpa died in 1975 and just went to waste

In Baja Seal Beach the weather was terrific so walking shoes were found and I headed out the door. I had a purpose this morning, to CVS to get some meds for Sue. CVS had only 500 mg pills and we needed 240 mg. Finally I had to go across the street to Rite Aide and get the proper dosage.

Interesting… Because I followed the same route returning home the app flashed the blue note guessing I was on a trail or in a park! No such luck, just a creaturew of habit!

Spring is still here although it was cool today never reaching 73 degrees…love living at the beach! The flowers were quite pretty int he sunshine.

Love those reds

After returning home, I installed by new Echo device in the garage. I had an Echo Dot but it was no loud enough when I was working in the yard so I upped it to an Echo Tall. Now I can hear them from 30 feet away now! Gotta have my dose of Rush and Dr. Laura every day!

Took a nap in the afternoon and we decided to stay put tonight and not go dancing as we are recovering form this past weekend and the visit! We watched TV and crashed about 10:45 PM after our evening tookie!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
