Sunday…A Day OF Rest!

Borrow money from a pessimist — they don’t expect it back!

First things first… heading out the door to go shopping. I love my Amazon Alexa as I keep the shopping list on line and therefore I always have it…to Ralph’s and beyond! Today it was the vitals…eggs, egg beaters (for days I want oto be healthy), raspberries, protein bars, and tookies! Yes, we were running low on tookies…not allowed, what if there were an earthquake?

Joe called, our son, and we talked for 30 minutes or more. He is thinking about giving me a smaller camera and the trusty old Canon 60D is heavy. He wants me to try the Sony 7. Sounds good!

Weighs in at about half the canon! Will be easier to drag around!

The trip took about two hours and it was cool out but once the ol’ body got to moving, it was OK. I listened to Dr. Laura as I subscribe to her show/website and had several episodes saved up…damn, she is fantastic. Somehow, I think we are soulmates as I agree with her 99% of the time.

After getting home, I headed to the garden and chopped off about eight of our broccoli plants. Want something high in Vitamin C but don’t feel like eating fruit? Broccoli is very high in Vitamin C, making 1 cup of chopped broccoli the Vitamin C equivalent of an orange. One cup of raw chopped broccoli will give you your entire daily needed intake. Although it may be known as the “golden state”, California produces 90% of our nations broccoli. Perhaps we should rename California as the “broccoli state.”

I sliced and diced and prepared the florets for a seven minute bath on hot water…tomorrow, we will have broccoli soup!

Lunch was easy… I reheated my Mexican selection from GG Elks and Sue did a warm-up on the remains from A’Roma. Of course the the pièce de résistance of the meal was ice cream loaded with berries! I am on my weight watch so I had two spoon full of chocolate and a cup (or more) of blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries! It was berry good…sorry, could not resist!

An amazing green… Is St. Patrick’s around the corner?

The rest of the afternoon, I wrote thank you notes for my Christmas and my birthday presents, paid some bills, talked to the Chartier’s and Crazy Greg on the Alexa video phone, and got a large pile of clothes ready to go to the dry cleaners. We have formal dances coming up and I needs to be ready!

Needing a boost, I went to Youtube and selected an Amos n’ Andy TV series from 1953…The Kingfish is selling a uranium mine! Just watch!

We need to get rid of all vulgar shows on TV a d put Amos n Andy back on producers give the public what they feel will give them rating. I say give all people like me what we like a nice clean show that will give us and our kids laughter. These people were amazing actors and funny as funny gets!

Random Memory:  I was thinking about going to school in the late 1940’s and I remember kindergarten..I had a black teacher!  Yep! Really.  Her name escapes me these days!  I wasn’t aware she was black but I remember her as a sweetheart!  I have a picture in my old photo albums of me sitting on her lap with, yes, James Bronson!

Around 7:00 PM we decided to watch some TV and we found a movie plus another episode of Eureka. We crashed at 11:15….of course, it was POST tookie time! Tookies are a must!
