Sunday…Getting Back To Normal

Mark Twain Was Correct: “The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.”

I started today with a four mile walk and now have achieved 707 miles so far since October 2017. Today was Ralph’s, CVS, and Staples…I returned with a large bag of goodies!

I just keep on walking…some days its easier than others but one must keep pushing…not ready for the rocking chair yet! Almost 1.8 millions steps and this is just the distance I measure in the morning walk…not the rest of the day which is likely another 50% considering dancing and golf!

707…Just like the airplane!

An amazing flower just along side the parking area in the local elementary school!  I have NO idea what it is but it was beautiful!

Flowers in the local elementary school parking lot!

Walking must do something to the ol’ brain as I get to thinkin’ about stuff, often from my past.  Today was no exception!

Sharon Tate

Random Memories:  Sharon Tate came up in a conversation on the local radio station as I was walking and it reminded me that I knew her.  Paul Tate, her father, who was 82 when he passed, was a former Army intelligence officer went undercover seeking clues to the murder of daughter Sharon Tate by the followers of Charles Manson.

Anyway, my Dad and I were in Italy in 1960visiting my uncle who was in the military.  Sharon Tate and her family were on the same base at the same time we were there.  My uncle knew Paul Tate and his family and introduced me to Sharon, and some friends, at the swimming pool on base.  We were the same age.  I think I must have fallen in love but she was out of my league.

I remember her well as a) she was quite beautiful, b) she was very friendly and polite, and c) she had green hair…OK, not green as in a leaf but green as in her blond hair was affected by the chlorine in the swimming pool water making it kinda greenish.

After returning home, we had lunch…yes, leftover Chinese from either Friday or Saturday?  Then we finished off NCIS until the new season starts…so, what do we do?  Do we wait 24 weeks and watch the entire season or do we CAREFULLY record all the episodes and watch them as the season unfolds? Decisions decisions!

I ran up to the wine store and hardware store returning to rest a bit before cleaning up and heading to Old Ranch for our monthly dinner dance.  Got a deal on parts organizers at the hardware store…$14 versus $24!  Bought two more…I even have my air compressor fittings organized now!

Off to Old Ranch and an evening of fun.  We have 32 for dinner this evening and we celebrated Marcia’s birthday again!  Sue has the best view in the house…she can see the people, the dance floor, and the servers moving about the tables!

Watching over things…The Secret Supervisor!

Happy Birthday Marcia!  We celebrated with a cheese cake and a rousing chorus of Happy Birthday! Marcia was all smiles!

Happy Birthday Marcia!

There we thiorty-two of us here this evening and we had a great time!

Bob tells a whopper!!

We stayed until about 9:00 PM and then headed home to crash for the evening.  It has been quite a week!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
