Remember: Always be yourself because the people that matter don’t mind and the ones that mind don’t matter.

First things first…fix the security light! So after turning off the power (a lesson I learned early in life), I popped the fixture off and examined the wiring…all looked OK.  Time to put the power on and see if the fixture was getting voltage.

The meter showed the voltage intermittent. Say what?  Power goes off again and I pulled the wires out and noticed that when I stripped the insulation on the hot wire, I stripped it only on one side of the wire!  So, it appears that when the wire went into the terminal and was tightened down, only a small part of the wire was making contact.  Fix? Yes, re-stripped the wire and reinstalled.  All went perfect and now everything works.

The best thing about the fix was that I could go into the garage and knew exactly where the voltage meters were, the proper sized screw drivers, the needle nose pliers and the step-stood… without having to search for them!

After a quick bite to eat, I went over to the Los Alamitos Baseball Center and caught some of Charlie and Alex’s game.  I got to visit Amy, Michele and Tony for an hour!  Joe was coaching 3rd base so he was busy.

Random Memories: Growing up we never had “organized sports”…kick the can was the game of the day.  We did baseball, flag/touch football, basketball, volleyball, and a bunch of games that were certainly fun but my memory fails me.  We played with the neighborhood kids right in the middle of the street on the asphalt!  We played from 6:00 AM until the porch light went on! We did not need a referee, we were self regulating. Hide and seek was always popular and kept us running and yelling for hours!  Ah, the good ‘ol days!

There are many days I feel like that!

After returning home, we watched a little TV and then got ready to depart for San Clemente. We are going to the annual USO dance which this year they renamed “Swing Night”.

Location:
San Clemente Community Center
100 North Calle Seville
San Clemente, CA 92672
Date/Time Information:
Doors open at 5:00 p.m.
Dinner 6:00 p.m.
Dancing 7:00p.m.

Loads of fun!

We met up with the Brander’s and Zaitz and danced until about 9:30 PM.  We headed for home arriving back about 10:15 PM where we watched a TV movie and had a chocolate chip tookie before crashing around 12:30 PM.  We must have been tired as we did not wake up until after 8:00 AM on Sunday!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
