Yes…We Are Having Our “MidWeek” Crisis!

Where is time going?  It’s already the middle of the week, good ol’ hump day!  We are sliding into the weekend.  So, the answer is WALK!

We are missing Colleen already!  She had been in Baja New Hampshire just a day and a half and we want her back!

Finally, we get back at our daughter!

Back to walking…Paul checked the figures this morning and we are approaching 250 miles! At this rate, it looks like a 500 mile year!

Random Memories: Paul is very lucky as his Dad never had the chance to walk because at the ago of 50 the emphysema disease took hold and walking became labored at best!  Too many years of smoking.  Paul Sr. retired in early 1970 and was gone by Thanksgiving of that year because the lungs just could not stand the stress of pneumonia.  He missed a lot of fun just seeing the world go by and the beauty of walking and meeting people and their doggies!

He was in the hospital in West Los Angeles and Paul tried to see him many times over his seven week illness.  Paul’s ex was always angry about him visiting the hospital and, in fact, never went to the hospital citing a collection poor excuses.  In spite of the pressure and anger from home, Paul went anyway…that was the start of the end!

Paul was working for North American Aviation on the Apollo Program at the time  and the bosses had no problem with Paul coming and going at odd times depending upon his father’s immediate condition.  Paul never forgot the companies compassion and understanding and stayed with them for 40+ years until retiring…partially because of this event.

We got a note from the Ida’s, friends for 25+ years and Almira is sick…the letter did not describe what it was but they can no longer dance.  We have known them since the days of Tux N’ Gowns so that is back in the late 1980’s.  We decided to respond with a card and an invites to be our guests at any upcoming dance…just come, sit, and listen to the music and visit friends.  Nice people!  Age sucks!

Today’s target was Von’s Market…Needed a greeting card!

Upon returning home, we ate, dined, and watched some TV before cleaning up around 2:00 PM as the cleaning folks are due in today! They showed up right at 2:30 PM so we did an errand and then went to Old Ranch to sit ny the window have an early dinner, and pass time until they completed their work!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
