USS Indianapolis, last US ship sunk in WWII
We went dancing at the Phoenix Club and Vicky & Del were telling us about a book called the Time and Tide (from which the movie “In Harms Way” was based on). We invited Buck and Bobbie to join our table (he ws a submarine group commander in WWII Pacific. Somehow the book was brought up and it seems Buck was the officer in charge of transporting Mochitsura Hashimoto, commander of I-58 which sunk the USS Indianapolis to Washington DC for the court marshal of the USS Indianapolis’s captain!Buck and Vicky and Dell talked all night! Small world, huh?
