The Wind Bloweth!

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

Hang on, Paul!!!

We woke up to a mighty windstorm, which was whipping all the backyard foliage around with a vengeance.   Our umbrella ended up in the pool again!  The wind is supposed to die down in the afternoon.  As a famous philosopher once said, “We’ll see!”

We worked in the office, a never-ending activity.  Dianne popped over mid-afternoon to return my credit card from last night.   The front yard security camera showed me when Dianne arrived, so I went outside to greet her, and there it was, looking at me.  It was a large and very dead Christmas tree that the wind had whisked down the street and into our front yard.

We visited for a while before getting ready for tonight’s visit to the Elks.

By 5:00 pm, we were ready to go.  We sat with Bill and Sandee Capps and family this evening, which means we will have a lot of fun!!  Bill’s grandson and fiancée joined us along with her mother and a friend.

We never slow down!!

The music was terrific, and the dance floor was busy all night long.   Mary and I were up dancing many times, tripping the light fantastic, and I was able to finish the dances without the need to sit; I am healed!  I felt good not having to run for the oxygen bottle after a dance.

This year will be a good year!

Marilyn Bailey, a long-time friend,  and I went out for a spin.  Knowing she is scheduled for knee surgery, we danced a slow dance over in the corner of the room.   At Mary’s request, I also danced with several other single ladies, including the fiancée!  Mary is an angel in disguise, my Wonder Woman!

Beauty and the Beast!

The lady has moves (and hopefully will be joining us at Starlighters)

Bill and Sandee were on top of their game this evening.  Through my cleverness and sneakiness, I got Bill up on the floor twice.   The first time we joined a group of ladies, we just wiggled and giggled.

Then the coup de grâce: I danced with Bill’s future in-law and saw my opportunity when I tapped Bill’s shoulder, and switched partners!  Bill was now dancing with his future in-law!  Sandee and I twirled away, leaving him alone to cavort, frolic, and romp to the tunes of Elvis with his new partner!

They are about to become family!!!

The evening was a load of fun with everybody participating in the dance activities and singing Elvis songs.

The Love Birds!

We returned home and crashed around 10:30 pm after a rousing evening of fun and frivolity with friends.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
