Wednesday Is Here!

Mary wasn’t feeling well, so I woke up early at 5:00 a.m. and cleaned the house before the professional cleaners arrived at 8:15 a.m.  After keeping myself occupied for an hour and a half, I woke Mary up.  She was feeling better today, so I finished some remaining tasks while she got ready for her 9:00 a.m. appointment.

We are headed to Huntington Beach for my haircut.  The beautician is trying to enhance my wife’s already stunning beauty, which is a difficult job at best!

The freeway was heavily congested due to a major accident at Main Street on the 22, causing a delay of almost 30 minutes.

The Freeway was tied up for miles!

ORANGE, Calif. (August 30, 2023) — A fatal Garden Grove 22 Freeway crash happened Wednesday morning, just east of Main Street in Orange.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the two-vehicle collision occurred in the westbound lanes of SR-22 around 7:36 a.m. on August 30th.

The CHP reported the drivers of a black Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and a white Nissan coupe were involved.

One of the vehicles overturned onto its side during the collision in the HOV and No. 1 lanes of the freeway.

Metro Net Fire Authority responded to help anyone hurt in the collision.  However, one person died at the crash scene on the 22 Freeway.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the fatal crash on the 22 Freeway.

As a result, we reached our appointment 20 minutes late, but it was a blessing in disguise as our friend had some errands to run while we were on our way.  Mary went in first for about 30 minutes, then I got my ears lowered, and then Mary went in again.  I stayed and went next door to the bagel store and brought her a latte.  I had a jalapeno bagel and a latte.

A work in progress!

We returned home and found Scout in the front yard, where he stayed after the cleaning folks departed.  Later, we ran some errands and bought pierogies for Saturday’s movie night with the Duda’s, wine from Trader Joe’s, and other items from Albertson’s.

An employee stacking shelves dropped a packet of alphabet spaghetti on the floor.  That could have spelled disaster.

The cashier at the grocery store asked me if I would like the milk in a bag.  I said, “No, just leave it in the carton.”

Shopping at Albertson’s

At around 4:00 p.m., we finally arrived home, and Mary started preparing dinner.  She made stuffed tomatoes that I had picked while watering the garden.  Later, we shared some with our neighbor, Jeff.

We watched Suits and are now at the end of season five, so we have about 20 additional episodes to watch.  We love Donna!

After dinner, around 10:00 pm, we took a walk in the garden

The lanterns are over two years old; we used them at our wedding celebration party in 2021.  The blue flowers were courtesy of Vicky!

The security light came on as we approached the garden; that helps keep the critters away!

The garden at night.

Upon returning to the patio, Dr. Scout gave us a disapproving look as if he thought we had lost our minds.  We quickly scurried inside and went to bed.

“Get inside, you silly humans!”

While Mary read, I spent 30 minutes working on my Daily Diary before turning out the lights.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
