Mary found a bunch of bug parts in the garden and decided to put them back together.  Using her surgical skills, she created all sorts of creatures.

Going buggy!

Her little friends made a great hit with everyone.  We took some to Alex and Charlie; they giggled!

From our garden

We had a small party of just ten folks; Jim & Vicky, Irene, Brenda, Bob & Robin, David & Dianne, and us.  We visited, dined, and revisited from 2:00 pm until about 6:00 pm, when we departed for Joe’s house for a fireworks show!

Family arrives!

Chef Duda and his sidekick Robin brined the ribs overnight in a liquid-smoke concoction, and they turned out very tasty!

Dem bones!

We rang the dinner bell and yelled, “Come and get it.”  The kitchen was mobbed.

Come and get it!

The chomping sounds could be heard all the way to Tustin.  We were all stuff by the end since we had corn on the cobb, watergate salad, potato salad, shishito pepper and for dessert, coconut flag cake and apple pie!

Chomping on the patio!

We were all ready for a nap, but instead, we gathered in the family room and swapped sea stories.  What is a “sea story”?  It is an interesting or amusing story, typically fictional or exaggerated

Visiting

We said goodbye about 6:30 pm and then we hopped in the car and went to La Mirada to meet with Joe and his family.

Just us!

Pop! Bang! Boom!  We were dazzled with fireworks for the entire evening and Joe was the ringmaster (or should we say, ringleader).

At Joe’s Famous Fireworks Display!

We were back home by 10:00 pm and got quite a show on the way home.  The entire sky was flooded with fireworks.  Mortars seemed to be very popular, albeit illegal.

Did You Know?mortar, portable, short-barreled, muzzle-loading artillery piece that fires explosive projectiles at low velocities, short ranges, and high, arcing trajectories. The weapon is contrasted with larger artillery pieces, which fire at high velocities, long ranges, and low, direct trajectories.

We crashed at 11:30 pm; Scout did not seem to mind all the noise1

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
