Monday; The Week Begins And We Are Off Like A Shot!

Today, we quickly headed to Huntington Beach to have the stitches removed from my gums. The procedure was simple, and we have another appointment in September to assess the progress of the bone implants.

My friends and I were feeling hungry and decided to get two pies for tomorrow from Hof’s Hit in Los Alamitos. We had a delicious breakfast and even shared an omelet. We sent a picture of our meal to our friend Capps, whom we were planning to see over the weekend, but unfortunately unexpected events got in the way.

Then the diner opened many moons ago!

After breakfast, I talked Mary into sharing a piece of blackberry pie; it was delicious.

Did You Know?  Hof’s Hut is a southern California home-style eatery and 1950s coffee shop-style restaurant chain specializing in comfort foods and baked goods like pies.  It is considered a cultural landmark and was founded by Harold Hofman in 1951.  It is headquartered in Signal Hill, California.  As of April 2023, the company operates 3 locations in California.

Facing competitive pressures, Hofman started the Lucille’s Smokehouse BBQ chain that has taken over some of Hof’s Hut locations.  Competition from Starbucks, newer casual eatery chains with more exciting atmospheres, and breakfast nooks pressured Hof’s Hut at the start of the 21st century.  After various experiments modifying the format at some locations, owner Craig Hofman hit on the Lucille’s Smokehouse concept and has been establishing that chain while reducing the number of Hof’s Hut locations from a peak of 18.

Yummy!

We returned home, and Mary finished the Lego flowers Becky gave her.    She worked hard on them, but on the bright side, we have our office table back!

We will find a place in the China Closet for these flowers.

After several tries with the camera, this was the best shot.  I may even electronically frame the picture.

Did you hear about the Lego truck that crashed on the highway?  Authorities are still trying to piece it all together.

Mary went to Michael’s and got glass beads for the vase since the flowers were a tad top heavy!

While Mary puttered in the kitchen, I ensured the veggies had plenty of water since it was in the mid-80s today.   The vineyards are doing well, and I provided the two small planters south of the garden with plenty of water.

I love those signs.

While scanning through the internet, I found a picture of garden pests, and we were looking for some horses doo-vers.  I printed out the image, and we went to Ralph’s Market and picked up some essentials.  Into the garage, we will go and find some exacto knives and surgical blades to prepare the pieces.

Fun times!

At 4:00 pm, we headed to Los Alamitos to pick up an old friend, Tom Burns, for dinner at Patty’s place.  It had been a year since Bunny passed, and it was time to say hello again.  We had a wonderful dinner and got a surprise (we arranged it beforehand) when Charlotte dropped by for a visit.

We shared and swapped stories!

We dropped Tom off and made our way home.  The doggie was outside and was not anxious about all the noise.  The fireworks and noises seem to have been happening for days, but he sits back and looks.

Scout is going to visit his cousin, Apollo, tomorrow evening.  IS is getting ready!

Mary and I will be up early tomorrow as we have much to do to prepare for our mini-party.  We are having Vicky & Jim, Bob and Robin, Irene, Nick and us!  It will be a small affair but loaded with food!  I must be careful as I am now 192.5 pounds and do NOT want to regain it in one day!

I am ready for tomorrow!  Mary found my hat!

We crashed by 10:00 pm and ran the whole-house fan to drop the inside temperature below seventy.
