More Rain On The Way!!!

Oh, dear!!

Last night Mary and I watched three movies back-to-back.  Luckily, I was the one facing the TV.

We woke up to no rain; it was a shock.  We walked the gardens and inspected the roses which were cut back! Did I say, “Cut back?” They were chopped to the ground!  There are many reasons why pruning a rose bush is essential. Failing to prune your roses may lead to decreased blooms and a sick or dead plant.

Carlos knows what he is doing!

Roses are notorious for being susceptible to a wide number of diseases. When you prune, you are helping the plant by cutting away dead and diseased canes. This improves air circulation, reduces the chance of spreading a disease, and allows your rose bush to put more of its energy into creating beautiful blooms when the time comes.

In 90 days, it will be beautiful again!

Returning into the house, we checked the rain gauge, and we got over 1 3/4″ of rain during the last storm and expect 1-2″ more on Monday and Tuesday.   Love that rain!

Colleen is coming to town this afternoon, so Mary and I got her room ready so she can put her things in drawers and hang whatever else is needed.  Robin’s Nest is now Colleen’s home for the next two weeks!

We went shopping for Colleen and came back with all sorts of goodies.  Mary decided we needed turkey so she could make her famous turkey sandwich.  We got two pounds of sandwich sliced turkey breast, and as soon as we came home, Mary was bust in the kitchen.  I wanted to take a photo of the results but alas, it was so good I downed it before the camera came out.

We went to the airport just in time to meet her 3:55 PM arrival, but the internet lied, and her plane was thirty minutes early.  We drove into John Wayne Airport, and there she was, ready to go.  We were so happy to see her.

We scampered around the house and departed for the Starlighters dance in Yorba Linda at 5:40 PM, arriving just in time.  Please join the fun on the Starlighters Website.

Colleen was tired but enjoyed visiting with everyone; she is her dad’s daughter!

Mary and I danced a little bit, but we were taking care of Mary’s arm to make sure we can get into physical therapy this next week.  We danced on the rug near our table instead to the dance floor, which was packed!

Acting goofy!

It was raining on the way home but not very hard, which was a good thing.  We had a great day!
