Fact: During Napoleon Bonaparte’s Egyptian campaign, a French soldier discovers a black basalt slab inscribed with ancient writing near the town of Rosetta, about 35 miles east of Alexandria. The irregularly shaped stone contained fragments of passages written in three different scripts: Greek, Egyptian hieroglyphics, and Egyptian demotic. The ancient Greek on the Rosetta Stone told archaeologists that it was inscribed by priests honoring the king of Egypt, Ptolemy V, in the second century B.C. More startlingly, the Greek passage announced that the three scripts had identical meanings. The artifact thus held the key to solving the riddle of hieroglyphics, a written language that had been “dead” for nearly 2,000 years.
We chased wild geese! OK, not really, but we did get halfway to Los Alamitos, and the heart doctor’s office called and waved us off; he had an emergency! We decided to go on over anyway and pick up the nuclear bone scan results. Mary read the report, and everything was OK; there was no cancer, just a lot of calcification in my joints, which was to be expected.
We went to H&H Nursery and picked up some plants, including another climbing plant for the patio. We dropped by the market and then decided to go home and eat; better food and a great atmosphere!
Yesterday morning, I saw my wife cooking breakfast in her bedroom slippers. I wonder why she doesn’t use the frying pan!
We talked for an hour, planning the rest of the week.
Upon entering Casa Valencia, Mary was bitten by the cooking bug, hit the kitchen, and made apple crisp, one of our favorites.
I told Mary that Subway is the healthiest fast food available because it makes you get out of the car.
She then turned to the zucchini I had picked and made ten loaves of zucchini bread and a large stuffed zucchini! She cooked for three hours straight, and of course, I pulled in the portable T.V. on wheels to keep her company!
Am I a lucky guy or what?
We went into the Swim Spa and spent about 90 minutes soaking. We both slept like babies the rest of the evening. What direction do chickens swim in a pool? Cluck wise.
