A New Chapter Begins!

If you know you’re going home, the journey is never too hard.

Today was Friday, which means Dr. Mary must go to the office and assist people with their vision issues.  I drove down the hill and met up with Bob Z and my amazing son Joe.  These two have saved my bacon, and I must through Zack into that mix also!

The older I get, the more I think about this thought!

As I walked into the house, I was amazing at the number of boxes sitting in the den. OMG, it will take forever to upload all this stuff.  It sounds like a call to Robin and Bob may be in order.

The place a maze with unloaded boxes.

Joe decided to bring Apollo to meet Scout, and they had a complete ball!

After a few minutes of serious sniffing, the games began!

A butt sniff for dogs is like a handshake for humans. … This is what interests dogs the most about each other’s butts. The chemicals tell dogs a lot about each other. They help a dog to know if another dog is male or female, how old it is, what it eats, how healthy it is, and even what kind of mood they’re in.

It was a three-ring circus, and at the end of their visit, both dogs were pooped out!!

In this yard, we do see other forms of wildlife, some pretty ugly!  We spotted one this morning.  It moved past the dogs, had grey straggly hair, a bushy beard, and snarled at the dogs.  I was going to run outside and turn the hose on it but felt pity for its horrible physical condition.

Next time we see it, we will call the SPCA and have it picked up and taken to a shelter.

Bob and Joe really help get things organized.  They established how the shop ought to look and began moving the large storage cabinets in the garage.

When these get going, we will have room in the garage for a lot of stuff.

We did swap dishwashers, and the guys were like Laurel and Hardy.  Bob knew the existing water line would have water in it, so he grabbed one of Mary’s microwave covers to catch the water…little did he know the cover had steam holes in it, so the water ran right out.  The only pan they could find easily was a cast-iron skillet.  I am surprised someone didn’t get bopped on the head with the skillet.

Water water everywhere and not a drop to drink!

Bob and Joe worked together well and enjoyed each other’s company! I so enjoy my family and friends; I feel very special!

There is Moe, Larry, and I should have played Curly Joe.

I went to Rockwell’s and got us some burgers for lunch.  We continued working until 3:00 PM when Bob and Joe departed for home.  I worked in the kitchen for another two hours, unpacking stuff and answering calls/emails/texts from real estate people.

It appears that escrow may close on the 20th of June on the Santa Monica property, which is perfect timing!  Escrow will likely occur on the new Silver Lake house at the same time.

Mary got to Casa Valencia about 5:00 PM, and we sat and had a glass of wine and discussed the day.  I showed her the progress we made, and she was duly impressed.  We went back to Mary’s about 6:00 PM and tried to use the swim spa, but it was fussy and only 90 degrees, so we opted for Two And A Half Men.

We dined on leftovers which is always good. We crashed by 8:30 PM as tomorrow is another hectic day! Tomorrow morning off to Disneyland for brunch with Mary’s friends, at 1:00 PM we are going to Lilly’s seventh birthday party (my great-granddaughter), at 3:45 PM we are going to Bob and Donnas for a tour of the garden, at 5:00 PM we are dining in Orange with Bob and Donna. At 7:00 PM we are going to be dancing in Chino.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
