Three Day Remain In 2020 And It Will Be Gone; Hopefully Forever!!

I love when they drop the ball in Times Square. It’s a nice reminder of what I did all year.

I headed for Mary’s house bright and early; we were missing each other after all, it had been almost eight hours apart.  As I entered, Mary was finishing off some last-minute Christmas packages, and we planned to go to the UPS store this morning on the way to my doctor.

Mary is quite a cut-up!

I made us coffee and took the varmint outside as the rain had stopped for a few minutes.

Mary finished off the Thank You cards and a few more packages, and it was time to go to the doctor’s office.   We looked outside, and voila, the rain gods were doing their thing! It was coming down in buckets.

It was raining like a cow wee-weeing on a flat rock!

Mary had done some wash and I assisted her in getting the things folded.  I did get a gentle reminder from her.  I told her I will try to remember next time, I promise.

Then it happened, I had some shorts with me but no white tennis shoes, I only had black socks, and black dress shoes.  I put them on, and I looked like a little old man whose mommy didn’t dress him well.

A quick pit stop at Chez Liles’ on the way to the doctor is required, OR I will wear a black plastic trash bag over my head, and Mary will have to guide me down the aisleway to the doctors’ office.  Knowing Mary, she will explain that her pet gorilla is going to the plastic surgeon.

We made it to my house, and I got some proper foot attire before going to the doctor.  We did some chores and then off to the doctor.  Indeed I have a pinched/torn medial meniscus  (thin fibrous cartilage between the surfaces of some joints), so an MRI is needed before the next doctor’s appointment is planned for the 11th of January.

The doctor was late and by the time we got out, we were starved so we stopped at The Original Fish Company and got two salmon dinners to go.

We waited in line for about twenty minutes.

We got a glass of wine delivered to the car while we waited.  A new way to take-out!

World’s greatest smile!

We went back to my place for a meal before heading home; the dinner was still warm as I am four blocks from the Fish Company.  We called Colleen and Robin and chatted with them for a while. We enjoy talking to the girls!

Now we have plans for New Years Day (Hint: Hopping John)

Did You Know? In the Southern United States, hoppin’ John—a simple, delicious dish of peas, pork and rice—is standard New Year’s fare. Forget champagne—in the Southern United States, hoppin’ John is standard New Year’s fare. This simple, delicious dish of peas, pork, and rice has graced holiday tables since the 1800s

Returning home to Mary’s, we walked in the baby in the dark and in the rain!  He needed a walk!   We nearly froze to death and were well watered!  We decided not to go into the spa as it was 46 degrees and raining outside.  We watched TV and just visited with each other.

Mary decided to make muffins for the gardener, which means we get a couple of them before the evening is done!  I love it when she makes something to eat, I get to taste everything.

We watched the Good Witch and then Two and a Half Men, great fun!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
