Almost The Weekend

With the nice warm weather last weekend, a neighbor was enthusiastically diggin’ in the dirt planting his garden! He was so excited about it; he wet his plants.

I drove Mary to work this morning so she could get her truck, which she left at the VA yesterday when I picked her up for dinner.  However, she didn’t have her keys to the truck when she arrived, so we will try again today. Being a gentleman, I helped her look for them!

There were two major fires underway, one in Silverado Canyon adjacent to Mary’s location.  The sky was amber with smoke and ash and it looked like it was heading for Long Beach.  By the time we got to the VA, it was like a heavy smelly fog came in.  I used my iPhone and switched on the electronic air cleaner at home.

When I got home, the picture below shows what a white bathroom looks like as the sun’s rays pass through the smoke.

The sky was yellow with smoke from the fires.

I did a few chores around the house and did some wash. I did open one Christmas box and began to decorate when I realized I was going to have lunch with Miss Robin.  Like a bunny, I jumped into the shower, got dressed, and headed to The Yucatan Grill in Seal Beach.

I got started ahead of Robin.

I snapped a quick picture before she knew it.  In turn, I got “the dreaded Robin look. We had a nice lunch and worked on our combined social calendars for December..”

Lunchtime!

On the way to the surgeon, I received a picture from Mary.  She took it in the gift store at the VA.  Christmas trees are made from rolls of toilet paper.

The store at the VA had a sense of humor!

So the doc took another chunk of cancer off my right forearm and bandaged it up real pretty.  Since Mary didn’t have a car, I dropped by the VA and picked her up before the procedure.  She came in and watched the goings-on.  That was really nice of her.

From the surgeon’s office, we departed for Orange so we could let Scout out and about.  Mary fixed dinner consisting of chili and a salad.  I am eating so healthy these days my weight is staying right at 189.  Considering it’s Christmas, I am doing pretty well.

I set up the massage table by the fireplace and proceeded to do a massage attempting to remember what I learned thirty years ago.

That hit the spot!!

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
