Remembering you is easy.
I do it every day.
Missing you is the heartache
that never goes away.
It is hard to believe it has been six months since this beautiful lady left us. She was such a joy to be with and hold. The thirty-four years we spent together seem like a flash, but we saw the world, enjoyed new babies (grand and great-grand), enter this world, built relationships with so many people, and shared our deepest thoughts. We danced like there was no tomorrow! We were so much in love, and then it was all gone in a flash!
Always tell people you love them, give big hugs because you never know when the good Lord will decide it is time. She was so beautiful inside and out I still cry a couple of times a day, but we both agreed, life must go on!
As soon as I was verticle, I called Colleen to check in so she knew I was going to my appointment. This morning was a dermatology morning, so off I went for my appointment, returning like a target on a rifle range where they tried to repair the damage. Bandages here and there, pieces missing, I was a mess. I hope some of the potshots can get fixed by Friday evening!
Before leaving for lunch, I called Diane as I was pretty low, as it has been six months since Sue departed. We talked for thirty minutes, and I felt better about everything. Diane said I better get my bottom in gear and live life to the fullest. Diane is, like her sister, a lovely lady whose advice and counsel I appreciate and take seriously.
Robin and I went to lunch at the Yucatan Grille and planned the weekend as she will be staying Friday night since she has to work Saturday. We both did salads and lobster enchilada, plus I snuck in a margarita into the meal. When Juan sees me he goes on automatic. The blender begins to jump up and down in excitement, whirl with abandon because it knows it is going to get “turned on!”
Bob, my contractor, was at the house with his portable shade because it was so hot. The wall is now four courses high, and we decided on seven plus the bullnose top should be enough. Thus, the wall is going up, and no more shall the pool equipment be visible.
While he did the wall, I pulled out all the corn and two tomato plants. That took about three hours of hard work, but I needed that today. The corn was full of ants, so I soaked them in water, and those pesky ants floated to the top and went down the drain where all ants need to go! I plan to make corn chowder tomorrow afternoon between “Girls Night Out” and dinner with Marilyn Bailey.
Before leaving I again called Colleen to check in and tell her of the plans for the evening. As I headed out of the house to go to Patty’s, the sun was blazing in the west and lighting up the sky. It reminded me of the phone call with Diane earlier, as there is a lot of fire activity in northern California.
While I sat at Patty’s, I got a text from Mary with a picture of Scout and the new toy I bought him. He likes the worm!
I was feeling the blues this evening, but Greg rescued me. He called me to make sure I was OK since he knew well the day. When I mentioned I was at Patty’s, he popped over ad we both did in a bowl of French onion soup! We talked of Sue a lot. He also mentioned that he had texted Mary today as he knew her from the wine train adventures. I found out tonight that Greg’s eye doctor was trained by Mary years ago.
Nick, the owner, came by as asked where Mary was and then shared where they buy their bread! I always wondered as it is outstanding, but my weight loss activities keep me from devouring the entire thing. I was 187 pounds this morning, and I want to stay there and lose a few more.
I scanned Facebook as I love to see pictures of the grand/great-grandkids. I ran across this picture and could not stop laughing.
When I got home, I talked with Mary for a while, arranging Friday evening and out trip to her Annie on Sunday. I sent her my patriotic pool with red, white, and blue lights.
Ah-ha, a package arrived, and Domilita had placed it on the dining room table. Another shirt from Amazon! After the weight loss, my neck size dropped almost two inches, so I put the “old” shirts in the back of the closet.
Off to bed for tomorrow is more gardening work plus “Girls Night Out” at the Elks in Santa Ana.
