Thank Goodness for Family & Friends!

I loved you every day. And now I will miss you every day.

7:00 AM and I heard something in the house moving.  Then I remembered Robin stayed overnight.  We had coffee and talked until she departed to take care of her sister.   Robin and I “Bat Phoned” to Colleen for a bit just checking on arrangements and things.

Bob Z came to the house about 9:00 AM, and we went to Gourmet Pies, a terrific old fashioned coffee house.  We chattered and talked and planned and cried for a good hour before he dropped me back home. He and Donna are good friends.  Bob selected Machaca & Eggs, which I have never tried.  It was house-made, seasoned shredded beef with tomatoes, onions, and cilantro scrambled with eggs, served with beans, rice, and tortillas.

Simply excellent food and fantastic service!

This week was amazing.  Twice I rode in a car with someone else driving.  I cannot remember ever being a passenger in a car, ever!  I will admit the first ride was like being at Star Wars in Disneyland, but Vicky did land the vehicle safely!

Returning home after breakfast, I hit the yard and filled up four more 100-gallon trash cans with clippings from the trees in the front yard.  My trashcans were already filled, so I had to “borrow” one from Vicky, Donnie, the Tans, and the Smith’s.   The yard is “clean.”  Only some minor trimming to do tomorrow.

He got a hell of a haircut today. I picked about 100 oranges off the tree and gave them to the neighbors.

Off to the H&H Nursery to get some supplies and goodies to plant.  Four tomatoes, squash, rainbow Swiss chard, potatoes, and string beans topped the list.  Tomorrow I will go planting and spreading the straw Joe brought me.

Almost right down the street!

I needed to rest, so I stopped working at 4:00 PM because I planned to go to the GG Elks this evening.  At 7:00 PM, I arrived, and the gang was there.  We enjoyed a lovely evening, and I headed home at 9:00 PM, arriving at 9:20 PM.  I did not eat as I was not hungry, but I did have a G&T to settle down.

I miss my bride in the evening, as that was our “our time.” The chores of the day melted away, and the hours of sharing began in earnest. I have decided that the babies are going to be buried with Sue to make sure we all stay together eventually,

Our little family will join Sue

Good night all. Special thanks to Robin, Colleen, and Bob for making the day a little more bearable.

About Paul

Just an old retired guy trying to finish out my last years on this planet. I lost my best friend and wife in early 2020. I was blessed again by reconnecting with Dr. Mary Côté, a long-time friend. Mary and I got married July 28th, 2021, and are enjoying life together and plan to spend the rest of our lives being a blessing to our friends and family.
