A Day To Relax! Love Those Sundays

Remember: I’ve reached the age where ‘happy hour’ is a nap.

So it is Sunday and that means…darn, I forgot!  I walked for several days in a row so I took Sunday off!  I did chores around the house and am in search of a delima.  The 1 1/4″ PVC pip spans about nine feet over the garden swing.  It looked great when I put the frame together but after putting the weather-proof tarp over it, the 1 1/4″ PVC pipe bows.  My initial solution was to turn it 180 degrees and that lasted for about a week.  So, what can I do to stiffen up the pipe?  Ideas accepted!

Sue read most of the morning as the shot is wearing off.  We had a great lunch and as you can see below, everything was from the garden…and fresh!  After brunch, I worked in the garden picking some tomatoes and berries…the boysenberries and blackberries are going full swing.

In the afternoon, Sue said “let’s get out of the house” so we got cleaned up around 5:30 PM and headed for PCH going south.  The weather was quite nice and traffic not too bad.  We cut off PCH at Highway 133 and drove through Laguna Canyon.  On the way back home we decided to stop at Panda Inn for a quick dinner and it was perfect.  If was late enough that the place was not mobbed!  We enjoyed a nice meal and then headed for home about 8:00 PM!  This is called “A Sunday Drive”…like to good ol’ days!

Random Memories – When growing up in the 50’s, Mom and Dad would always take “a Sunday drive” and we would go all over Socal.  Sometimes the desert, sometimes the mountains, sometimes just a few miles to Downey to visit family. I liked going to Big Bear because Dad could visit one of his stores and Mom and I would go next door to Jensen’s Market and buy Sheepherders Bread!  But always, the 1953 Pontiac, the 1955 Buick, the 1958 Chevy, or 1961 Chevy would be out of the garage and gassed up on Sunday morning ready for an adventure!

From Panda Inn to home is about ten minutes.  We arrived home to watch a little TV before crashing. Loved the drive!
